You will take ownership of the mapping capability within a wider autonomy platform, working across the full lifecycle from architecture and algorithm design through to production deployment.</p><p>You will collaborate closely with perception and localisation teams to ensure mapping outputs are accurate, scalable and production-ready. Alongside this, you will shape tooling, standards and long-term technical direction.</p><p>Key responsibilities</p><p>* Design and develop scalable LiDAR and vision-based mapping pipelines * Build and optimise 2D and 3D map representations (occupancy grids, HD maps, semantic layers) * Lead multi-sensor fusion across LiDAR, cameras, radar, GNSS/INS and odometry * Support large-scale, multi-session and distributed mapping workflows * Implement map versioning, incremental updates and deployment strategies * Define KPIs and validation frameworks to ensure mapping accuracy and consistency * Translate SLAM and reconstruction research into robust production systems * Mentor engineers and contribute to technical best practice</p><p>Senior Mapping Engineer essential skills</p><p>* MSc or PhD in Robotics, Computer Vision, Computer Science or similar * 4-5+ years' commercial experience in robotics or autonomous mapping * Strong LiDAR and point cloud processing experience (PCL, Open3D or custom C++ pipelines) * Experience with vision-based mapping (stereo/mono reconstruction, visual SLAM) * Proven background in multi-sensor fusion * Experience building and deploying large-scale 3D maps in real-world environments * Strong C++ and ROS2 experience * Solid understanding of kinematics, estimation, optimisation and geometry (TF2)</p><p>Desirable: semantic mapping, distributed systems, DDS middleware, ML-based scene understanding.</p><p>This role would suit a senior engineer who enjoys solving complex spatial problems and wants to play a key role in shaping how high-precision maps are created and used within industrial automation systems. xwzovoh </p><p>To be considered</p><p>Please either apply through this advert or email me directly via .</p><p>For further information please call me on / .</p><p>By applying for this role, you give express consent for us to process and submit (subject to required skills) your application to our client in conjunction with this vacancy only.</p><p>Key skills</p><p>Robotics, SLAM, LiDAR, Computer Vision, ROS2, C++, Multi-Sensor Fusion, 3D Mapping, Industrial Automation, Software Engineering</p>
