<p>Job Description</p><br>If your skills, experience, and qualifications match those in this job overview, do not delay your application.<br><p>Hours: Full Time, Term Time Only (8am-4pm Mon, Weds, Thurs, Fri and 8am-5pm Tuesdays)Start date: September 2026Your new school</p><p>Gretton School welcomes autistic children and young people aged from 5-19 years old, as weekly boarders or as day learners.</p><p>Every learner at Gretton has a diagnosis of Autism, and the ability to learn at or above the level of their mainstream peers, but require a specialist setting in order to achieve their remarkable potential.</p><p>As autism specialists, we understand that consistent daily routines and staffing helps to keep anxiety at a minimum and ensures that our learners feel safe and confident in their surroundings.</p><p>We have a high staff to learner ratio and classes are small and personal - we know each of our learners really well and employ the best strategies to support them in their everyday school life.</p><p>A broad curriculum, an emphasis on holistic development, and the development of life and social skills, means that we are able to bring out the best in all our learners, and to provide them with opportunities to flourish.</p><p>At whatever stage a young person joins Gretton, we will ensure they are happy and prepared to make the most of the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life.</p><p>Your new role</p><p>As a Teacher of Maths & ICT, you will play a key role in delivering a high-quality, engaging and differentiated curriculum tailored to the unique needs of autistic learners. You will be responsible for planning, assessment, and monitoring pupil progress, ensuring that every student achieves their full potential.</p><p>You will:</p><ul><li>Deliver Maths and ICT across KS3-KS5, adapting the National Curriculum to meet individual learning needs</li><li>Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contribute to student progress reviews and reports</li><li>Create a stimulating and supportive classroom environment</li><li>Use innovative teaching approaches to maximise engagement and achievement</li><li>Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, SENCo, and pastoral teams</li><li>Build strong, positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues</li><li>Contribute to whole-school development and curriculum leadership opportunities</li></ul><p>This is a unique opportunity to teach in a setting where the focus is on teaching the way students learn, not expecting them to fit a traditional model.</p><p>What you'll need to succeed</p><p>To be successful in this role, you will bring a combination of subject expertise, teaching excellence, and a passion for inclusive education.</p><p>Essential requirements:</p><ul><li>Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)</li><li>Experience teaching Maths (and/or ICT) across KS3-KS4 (KS5 desirable)</li><li>Strong classroom management and the ability to build positive relationships</li><li>A commitment to high-quality teaching and learning</li><li>Ability to differentiate effectively and use data to inform progress</li><li>Excellent communication and teamwork skills</li></ul><p>Desirable:</p><ul><li>Experience working with SEND students, particularly autism or communication needs</li><li>Knowledge of GCSE, BTEC or Functional Skills pathways</li><li>Evidence of innovative teaching methods and extracurricular involvement</li><li>Further professional development in SEND or leadership</li></ul><p>You will also demonstrate resilience, flexibility, and a genuine commitment to supporting students' academic, social, and emotional development.</p><p>What you'll get in return</p><p>Gretton is a friendly school where staff are supportive of each other inside and outside of the classroom and there is an opportunity to really make a difference to the lives of our students and their families.
