BSL Qualified Teaching Assistant

<p>Reed Education are working in partnership with a large, well-established SEN school <strong>in the Morecambe area</strong> to recruit a full-time <strong>British Sign Language (BSL) Teaching Assistant to start in September 2026.</strong>This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and experienced BSL professional to support a young person within a specialist school setting.<strong>Job Description:</strong>The successful candidate will be working <strong>1:1 with a Year 7 boy</strong> who is Deaf and uses <strong>BSL to communicate</strong>, and who also has <strong>ADHD and learning difficulties.</strong>The role will involve:</p><ul><li>Interpreting whole-class lessons using BSL</li><li>Supporting the pupil's communication and access to learning throughout the school day</li><li>Working collaboratively as part of the wider classroom and SEN team within a large SEN school </li></ul><p><strong>The Role:</strong></p><ul><li>Monday to Friday</li><li>8:30am - 3:30pm</li><li>Term time only</li><li>Long-term/permanent </li></ul><p><strong>Essential Requirements:</strong></p><ul><li>Minimum BSL Level 4 qualification (This must be from an official, reputable training provider and is essential)</li><li>Clear DBS (or willingness to obtain one prior to starting)</li><li>Reliability and commitment to the role</li><li>Ability to build positive relationships with pupils with additional needs </li></ul><p><strong>Desirable Experience:</strong></p><ul><li>Experience working 1:1 with Deaf children</li><li>Experience supporting children with additional needs, including ADHD and learning difficulties</li><li>Previous experience in a school or care setting </li></ul><p><strong>Referral Opportunity!</strong>If you know someone who may be interested in this role, please feel free to share this opportunity with them.Remember, you can refer a friend to Reed Education and <strong>earn up to £300 in vouchers</strong> for successful referrals through the Reed Education Referral Programme!</p><p><strong>Don't miss out!
