Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Kent
Salary: Competitive + excellent benefits
Our client, a well-established and growing civil engineering contractor working across the UK, is looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Southern Region team. Initial projects include a £12m Highways scheme in Folkestone and a major new Entry/Exit System infrastructure project at the Port of Dover.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting and mentoring junior staff
- Maximising profitability on contracts
- Monitoring contract costs against budgets
- Identifying potential risks and evaluating options for control
- Preparing cost estimates
- Procuring sub-contractors, including preparation of subcontract documents
- Assessing and certifying interim and final payments to subcontractors
- Preparing and agreeing main contract variations
- Assisting with documentation for dispute resolution (adjudications/arbitrations)
- Ensuring all work complies with quality, safety, and environmental policies
What We're Looking For:
- An ambitious individual with excellent communication skills and a flexible approach
- Innovative problem-solving skills and the ability to negotiate across all levels of a construction environment
- Strong numeracy and IT skills
- Experience working on civil engineering schemes with a main contractor on Highways works
- Experience as an SQS working with the NEC form of contract
- Full UK driving licence, with willingness to travel for this regional role
