The Role
As a Controls Engineer, you'll play a key role in the design, development, and delivery of innovative control systems. Working closely with design, production, commissioning, and project teams, you'll help deliver high-quality solutions for a range of complex engineering applications.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop control systems for power generation and distribution applications
Program PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems
Configure and integrate control equipment and automation systems
Produce and review technical documentation including I/O schedules, control philosophies, and functional specifications
Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts
Support system integration using industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Profinet, and Ethernet/IP
Carry out testing activities and support commissioning on-site when required
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues throughout project delivery
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project completion
Provide technical support to customers and internal stakeholders
What We're Looking For
HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Control Systems, Automation Engineering, or equivalent experience
Previous experience in a Controls, PLC, or Automation Engineering position
Strong understanding of electrical control systems within an industrial environment
Experience with, Rockwell, Schneider, or similar PLC platforms
HMI and/or SCADA development experience
Ability to interpret electrical drawings and schematics
Knowledge of industrial communication protocols
Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Desirable Experience
Power generation, energy, or power distribution experience
Generator control and load management systems
Control and protection systems
AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar software
Previous commissioning experience
18th Edition qualification
