SEN Learning Support Assistant
Prospero Teaching is recruiting a dedicated and empathetic SEN Learning Support Assistant to support pupils across schools in the Southampton area. This role involves working with students who have a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, communication needs, and social, emotional or behavioural challenges.
You will work closely with teaching staff to deliver consistent and personalised support, helping pupils access learning, build confidence, and remain engaged throughout the school day. Support may be provided on a 1:1 basis or within small groups, depending on individual needs.

The Role:
Provide 1:1 support and small‑group assistance for pupils with SEN
Support pupils during lessons, activities, and transitions
Assist with emotional regulation and behaviour support
Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
Encourage confidence, independence, and participation
Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
Maintain a calm, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with children or individuals with additional needs
Calm, patient, and supportive approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Able to build positive and trusting relationships
Adaptable and responsive to changing situations
Reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team
Backgrounds in SEN, care, youth work, or support roles welcomed Contract Details:
Position: SEN Learning Support Assistant
Location: Southampton
Start Date: ASAP
Working Pattern: Full‑time, term‑time
Pay Rate: £ – £ per hour
Key Stages: Primary / Secondary Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
SEN or relevant child‑support experience desirable
Safeguarding training can be provided
