Position Overview:
Finning is the world's largest Caterpillar dealer. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional customer experiences and innovative solutions. We are looking for a technically skilled and customer-focused Application Engineer to provide engineering expertise across the full project lifecycle, from initial bid development through to final installation sign-off. The Application Engineer is a key role supporting the design, integration and delivery of Caterpillar engine packages and associated third-party equipment for industrial customers.
Job Description:
Working closely with Sales, OEM engineering teams, Caterpillar and customers, the Application Engineer will be responsible for developing robust, cost-effective engineering solutions, conducting installation audits and ensuring compliance with Caterpillar application guidelines. You will manage a portfolio of key industrial accounts, lead technical discussions and oversee the successful delivery of multiple projects and engine installations each year.

Responsibilities:
- Provide technical application support for sales opportunities, contributing engineering expertise to the development of customer proposals and bids.
- Collaborate with Sales, OEM engineering teams, Caterpillar and internal design teams to develop application solutions that meet customer requirements.
- Identify and communicate potential revenue-generating opportunities and value-added solutions.
- Design and support the integration of third-party equipment into engine and turnkey package applications.
- Contribute to the design, development and validation of engineered components and systems.
- Review and approve engineering drawings and designs, ensuring compliance, quality and technical integrity.
- Act as the primary technical liaison between Caterpillar, OEMs, customers and internal stakeholders, resolving technical issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Plan, conduct and document full engine installation audits in accordance with Caterpillar requirements.
- Manage a portfolio of key industrial accounts, providing technical leadership for engineering activities, customer visits, site audits and technical meetings.
- Oversee projects from concept through to final installation sign-off, ensuring technical, commercial and operational objectives are met.
- Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including calculations, bills of materials, installation instructions, audit reports, drawings and project approvals.
- Undertake detailed on-site testing, troubleshooting and commissioning support as required.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of engine technologies, emissions legislation and industry developments through ongoing training and professional development.
