- Human Factors (Contract) | Southern sites (Frimley / New Malden / Broad Oak / Filton) We're recruiting for an experienced Human Factors Engineer to support major maritime/defence engineering programmes, focusing on human-centred design for complex command and control systems and equipment.
You'll be working in a multi-disciplinary environment, collaborating with engineering teams and end users to shape safe, operable and usable design solutions.
Location Role can be based from one of the following southern sites: Frimley, New Malden, Broad Oak, or Filton Hybrid pattern: typically 1-3 days onsite but can accomodate once every 2 weeks Possibility to only work a 4 day week Contract details Contract length: 12 months Engagement: Inside IR35 Rate: £60.00/hour PAYE or up to £81.05/hour umbrella Clearance: BPSS required, with SC in progress / in flight Hiring: 2 headcount What you'll be doing Deliver Human Factors input across the engineering lifecycle for maritime/defence systems Plan and run HF activities (stakeholder engagement, reviews, workshops, trials) Apply methods such as task analysis, performance assessment and HF design techniques Produce high-quality deliverables (reports, presentations, metrics) to time/cost/quality expectations Promote good practice in Human Factors Integration and human-centred design Identify and manage risks and issues, escalating when needed Support capability development through knowledge sharing and mentoring What we're looking for Defence Human Factors experience xwzovoh (maritime exposure preferred) Strong understanding of applying HF principles within a systems engineering context Experience designing/running HCI usability trials Familiarity with MoD Human Factors Integration approaches/standards Tooling exposure such as Axure RP and digital human modelling (e.g., Jack) Degree in an engineering/science/technology related discipline Human Factors / UI/UX / psychology qualification preferred (plus chartership progress and UX cert are desirable)
