<p><p>SEN Assistant Teacher<br></p><p><strong>Salary: </strong> £29,083 - £31,467 per annum<br><strong>Hours: </strong> 36.5 hours per week<br><strong>Contract: </strong> Permanent </p> <br><strong>About the Role </strong><p>Staffline Recruitment Ireland is currently recruiting for an <strong>Assistant Teacher </strong> on behalf of a leading specialist education provider. </p><p>This is a <strong>senior classroom support role </strong>, combining leadership responsibilities with direct, hands-on support for students with additional needs, including autism. </p><p>The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support learning delivery, lead classroom assistants, and contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment. </p><br>Key Responsibilities<br>Teaching & Learning Support<br><ul><li>Support the delivery of lessons for individuals and small groups </li><li>Assist in lesson planning and review with teaching staff </li><li>Provide structured feedback on student progress </li><li>Deliver planned learning activities under teacher guidance </li><li>Provide classroom cover when required </li><li>Support students during breaks, lunch, and educational visits </li><li>Use ICT and specialist resources effectively </li> </ul><br>Behaviour & Student Support<br><ul><li>Follow Personal Learning Plans and Behaviour Support Plans </li><li>Apply recognised behaviour support strategies (e.g. PBS, CPI) </li><li>Respond to incidents and maintain accurate records </li><li>Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment </li><li>Monitor and report changes in student needs </li> </ul><br>Team Leadership<br><ul><li>Supervise and coordinate Classroom Assistants </li><li>Support induction and mentoring of new staff </li><li>Provide feedback through performance review processes </li><li>Allocate tasks and ensure effective team deployment </li> </ul><br>Communication & Collaboration<br><ul><li>Build strong relationships with staff, students, and families </li><li>Attend and contribute to meetings on student progress </li><li>Promote a collaborative and inclusive school culture </li> </ul><br>Professional Responsibilities<br><ul><li>Follow safeguarding and organisational policies </li><li>Maintain accurate records and documentation </li><li>Participate in training and professional development </li><li>Contribute to continuous improvement within the service </li> </ul><br>Essential Criteria<br><ul><li>Level 4 qualification (or Level 3 with 5 years' relevant SEN experience, with commitment to achieve Level 4) </li><li>Minimum 1 year's experience supporting children/young people with learning disabilities and/or autism </li><li>Experience working in an SEN setting </li><li>Ability to support and coordinate a team </li><li>Skills in at least one specialist area (e.g. communication, behaviour, sensory, arts, outdoor learning) </li><li>Strong literacy and numeracy skills </li><li>Ability to work in a physically and emotionally demanding environment </li> </ul><br>Desirable Criteria<br><ul><li>GCSE English and Maths (Grade C or equivalent) </li><li>Experience as a Classroom Assistant or similar role </li><li>Experience managing or supervising staff </li><li>Training in risk assessment (e.g. IOSH) </li><li>Knowledge of multidisciplinary working </li> </ul><br>Benefits<br><ul><li>30 days annual leave plus statutory holidays </li><li>Additional off-duty days (total approx. 52 non-working days per year) </li><li>Occupational pension scheme </li><li>Occupational sick pay </li><li>Free on-site parking </li><li>Paid break </li><li>Health scheme options </li><li>Ongoing training and development opportunities </li><li>Death in service benefit </li> </ul><br>Important Information<br><ul><li>Applicants must have the <strong>right to work in the UK </strong> (this role does not meet visa sponsorship criteria) </li> </ul><br>Apply Now<br><p>To apply or find out more, contact <strong>Staffline Recruitment Ireland </strong> </p> </p><p><strong>Skills: </strong> <br>Special Educational Needs Teaching </p><p><strong>Benefits: </strong> <br>Additional off duty days Pension </p><br/><p>WHJS1_NI </p>
