Shift gears with The AA. </strong> </p><p><strong>Salary: </strong>Guaranteed minimum c. £38,591 for CE (HGV 1) license, £35,111 for C (HGV 2) license </p><p>*This includes a location allowance* </p><p><strong>On Target Earnings: </strong>£44,720 for CE, £39,065 for C license </p><p><strong>Shifts: </strong>Rolling roster, work 18 days out of every 28, with two full weekends off. </p><p><strong>Standard Shift Duration: </strong> 9 hours and 45 minutes, including a 45-minute break. </p><p><strong>Flexibility Required: </strong>While standard shifts are under 10 hours, end-of-shift flexibility is essential. You may be required to work up to 12 hours (including breaks) depending on operational needs. </p><p><strong>Depot Postcode: LU4 9RU </strong> </p><p><strong>To be eligible for this role you must live within 25 miles or 1 hours travel from the depot. </strong> </p><p>As an HGV Recovery Driver, you’ll often work independently, but the moment you step out of your truck, you become a source of calm and confidence. With empathy and resilience, you’ll support members through stressful moments, using your technical expertise to recover vehicles safely and efficiently. Whether it’s transporting a vehicle to a garage or helping someone reach their destination, you’ll make a real difference in their day and their journey. </p><p><strong>What will I be doing? </strong> </p><ul><li>Delivering exceptional service by safely recovering vehicles and reassuring customers during breakdowns, helping them get back on the road quickly. </li><li>Working independently across varied locations and conditions, while remaining a valued part of a supportive team. </li><li>Solving problems on the spot, using your technical skills and calm approach to handle a wide range of roadside situations. </li><li>Staying solution-focused and compliant with EU Regulations & WTD, representing The AA with professionalism and a drive to always “Push for Better.” </li> </ul><p><strong>What do I need? </strong> </p><ul><li>A full Category C (HGV Class 2) driving licence is essential. If you already hold a Category CE (HGV Class 1) licence — great! If not, don’t worry — we’ll support you in gaining it. </li><li>A valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) and a digital tachograph card. </li><li>Confidence using and adapting to new technology — we’ll provide the tools; you bring the curiosity. </li><li>Flexibility to work shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays because breakdowns don’t stick to a schedule. </li> </ul>Additional information<p>We’re always looking to recognise and reward our employees for the work they do.
