Could this role be the opportunity for you to play your part? </strong> </p> </p><p> <p>AWE is looking for a <strong>Health Physicist </strong>for the <strong>Defence Radiation Protection Services (DRPS) Group </strong>which provides UK Defence and Security with ionising and non-ionising radiation protection advice.As a health Physicist, you will provide independent, high-quality radiation protection and dosimetry support, ensuring AWE and its customers remain compliant with the <strong>Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 </strong>and other relevant legislation. </p> </p><p> <p>You will use your technical expertise in radiation protection, health physics and/or dosimetry to support core services, justify technical practices, and contribute to continuous improvement across the business. </p> </p><p> <p>As part of this role, you will be supported with <strong>professional development opportunities to progress your career towards becoming a Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA) </strong>. </p> </p><p> <p><strong>Who are we looking for? </strong> </p> </p><p><p><strong>We do need you to have the following: </strong> </p> </p><p><ul><li><p>A QCF Level 4 qualification in a radiation protection or health physics (or equivalent knowledge gained through experience). </p> </li> </ul> </p><p><ul><li><p>Experience working in a technical or scientific role within a regulated environment. </p> </li> </ul> </p><p><ul><li><p>Working in a professional radiation protection or dosimetry role. </p> </li> </ul> </p><p><ul><li><p>A working understanding of radiation protection, radiological metrology and/or dosimetry. </p> </li> </ul> </p><p><ul><li><p>Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly. </p> </li> </ul> </p><p><ul><li><p>Strong attention to detail, good numeracy and concise recordkeeping skills. </p> </li> </ul> </p><p><ul><li><p>Ability to prioritise work effectively and manage time efficiently. </p> </li> </ul> </p><p><ul><li><p>Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance. </p> </li> </ul> </p><p><ul><li><p>Willingness and ability to work in designated (radiological) areas. </p> </li> </ul> </p> </p><p> <p><p><strong>Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we'd like you to have experience in some of the following: </strong> </p> </p><p><ul><li><p>Working in a professional radiation protection or dosimetry role within a UK defence environment. </p> </li> </ul> </p><p><ul><li><p>Supporting or delivering radiation protection and dosimetry services. </p> </li> </ul> </p><p><ul><li><p>Providing technical justification for practices to meet regulatory or industry standards. </p> </li> </ul> </p><p><ul><li><p>Communicating complex technical work to a wide range of audiences. </p> </li> </ul> </p><p><ul><li><p>Supporting improvement projects within radiation protection, health physics or dosimetry. </p> </li> </ul> </p><p><ul><li><p>Training, mentoring or providing technical guidance to others. </p> </li> </ul> </p><p><ul><li><p>Experience working with safe systems of work and change management in externally regulated environments. </p> </li> </ul> </p><p><ul><li><p>Membership of a relevant professional body and/or a QCF Level 6 qualification in science. </p> </li> </ul> </p> <p><p><strong>Work hard, be rewarded: </strong> </p> </p><p><p><strong>We ask a lot and set the bar high because our work truly matters.
