<p><strong>What you will be doing:</strong></p>
<p>In this role, you will support the development and delivery of mechanical platform systems, ensuring robust design evidence is generated to support safe and effective engineering solutions. You will contribute to testing and commissioning activities, support issue resolution, and work closely with multidisciplinary teams to maintain design intent across <span class="rec-format">complex</span> submarine programmes.</p>
<p>You will also mentor junior engineers, contribute to technical outputs, and engage with stakeholders to support successful programme delivery.</p>
<p><strong>Core duties:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Develop and deliver design evidence to justify safe and effective engineering solutions, ensuring customer <span class="rec-format">confidence</span> in system designs</li>
<li>Specify and support the build of prototypes, products, and systems for testing and validation activities</li>
<li>Provide timely resolution of defects and issues, ensuring corrective actions are identified, tracked, and implemented</li>
<li>Ensure engineering commitments are defined, reviewed, and delivered in line with programme requirements</li>
<li>Support technical presentations and communications to engineering and <span class="rec-format">management</span> audiences, maintaining awareness of emerging technologies</li>
<li>Author and contribute to technical reports, papers, and presentations to support engineering activities and knowledge sharing</li>
<li>Mentor and support junior engineers, providing technical guidance and supporting professional development</li>
<li>Apply mechanical engineering <span class="rec-format">expertise</span> across design, testing, commissioning, and <span class="rec-format">analysis</span> activities, utilising CAD tools and standard engineering software</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Essential Skills:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Mechanical engineering knowledge across the full lifecycle (design, testing, commissioning, validation)</li>
<li>Experience developing and justifying design evidence for engineering solutions</li>
<li>Ability to support prototype development, testing, and validation activities</li>
<li><span class="rec-format">Strong</span> problem-solving skills with experience resolving defects and engineering issues</li>
<li>Experience delivering engineering tasks in line with programme requirements and milestones</li>
<li>Ability to produce and review technical documentation (reports, calculations, presentations)</li>
<li>Experience using CAD tools and standard engineering/IT software</li>
<li><span class="rec-format">Strong</span> communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to varied audiences</li>
<li>Mentoring or supporting junior engineers and contributing to team capability development</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>The Mechanical Platform Systems Team:</strong></p>
<p>The Mechanical Platform Systems team plays a key role in supporting the planning and execution of testing and commissioning activities across <span class="rec-format">complex</span> submarine programmes. You will contribute to ensuring engineering activities are delivered safely and effectively while maintaining design intent. This role offers exposure to some of the most <span class="rec-format">complex</span> engineering projects within the Submarines business, alongside <span class="rec-format">strong</span> opportunities for career development. Relocation support may be available, subject to eligibility criteria.</p>
