<p><strong>What you will be doing:</strong></p>
<p>In this role, you will support the development and optimisation of submarine build strategies within the SSNA programme, while integrating learning and best practice from Dreadnought and Astute programmes. You will work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Projects and Engineering teams to ensure designs are deliverable, manufacturable, and aligned to build <span class="rec-format">objectives</span>.</p>
<p><strong>Core duties:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Liaise with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Projects, Supply Chain and Engineering teams to resolve issues arising during the design phase</li>
<li>Apply problem-solving tools and techniques throughout the design lifecycle, including PFMEA and design for manufacture <span class="rec-format">principles</span></li>
<li>Capture lessons learned from build activities and integrate findings into future manufacturing strategy to prevent recurrence</li>
<li>Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure Manufacturing considerations are embedded within the design process</li>
<li>Support the development of efficient and practical build strategies for <span class="rec-format">complex</span> submarine programmes</li>
<li>Review and interpret engineering drawings and CAD models to support manufacturing and build planning activities</li>
<li>Contribute to continuous improvement <span class="rec-format">initiatives</span> using Lean Six Sigma and other problem-solving methodologies</li>
<li>Support the delivery of major programme milestones while building effective relationships across multiple business functions</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Essential Skills:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>HNC qualification (or equivalent experience) within a STEM discipline</li>
<li><span class="rec-format">Strong</span> understanding of engineering drawings and CAD models</li>
<li>Experience using problem-solving tools and techniques such as Lean Six Sigma</li>
<li><span class="rec-format">Strong</span> stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration skills within engineering and manufacturing environments</li>
<li>Familiarity with SAP/Teamcenter and understanding of submarine build strategy/manufacturing processes would be advantageous</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>The SSNA Manufacturing Team:</strong></p>
<p>As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer within the Build Strategy team, you will play a key role in supporting the SSNA programme while drawing on experience and learning from the Dreadnought and Astute programmes where required. This role offers the opportunity to work with a wide range of stakeholders and senior <span class="rec-format">leaders</span>, ensuring Manufacturing has a <span class="rec-format">strong</span> voice within the Design community and enabling designs to be built in the most effective and efficient way possible.</p>
<p>You will gain valuable exposure to major defence programmes and <span class="rec-format">complex</span> engineering <span class="rec-format">challenges</span> while building a long-term career within BAE Systems. Relocation support packages are available across all Submarines roles, subject to eligibility criteria.</p>
