<p><strong>What you will be doing:</strong></p>
<p>In this role, you’ll work as part of an Integrated Development Team responsible for developing and delivering submarine systems and capability. You’ll focus on ensuring Product Safety activities are completed across multiple systems in line with project milestones throughout the Engineering Lifecycle. Working closely with other Integrated Development Teams and the Whole Boat Safety Team, you will contribute to ensuring safety considerations are embedded throughout system development.</p>
<p><strong>Core duties:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Support Product Safety activities across submarine systems throughout the engineering lifecycle, applying Safety Engineering and Systems Engineering <span class="rec-format">principles</span> to ensure safety is embedded during system development and delivery</li>
<li>Participate in Hazard Identification and Hazard <span class="rec-format">Analysis</span> activities, supporting identification, assessment, and <span class="rec-format">management</span> of safety risks while maintaining hazard data and safety requirements</li>
<li>Assist with preparation and production of safety reports and supporting documentation, ensuring clear, accurate, and structured outputs</li>
<li>Ensure Product Safety activities are delivered in line with the project Safety <span class="rec-format">Management</span> System, supporting governance, compliance, and continuous improvement</li>
<li>Liaise and collaborate with Integrated Development Teams and the Whole Boat Safety Team, working effectively both <span class="rec-format">independently</span> and as part of a team</li>
<li>Apply awareness of Engineering Lifecycle <span class="rec-format">Management</span> processes to ensure safety considerations are addressed from concept through to delivery</li>
<li>Work in an agile and adaptable manner, demonstrating <span class="rec-format">initiative</span>, self-motivation, and problem-solving skills in response to changing priorities</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Essential Skills:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Degree qualified in a STEM discipline (minimum 2:2) or equivalent experience</li>
<li>Understanding of Safety Engineering and Systems Engineering <span class="rec-format">principles</span></li>
<li>Practical Product Safety experience (maritime defence sector desirable, but other sectors considered)</li>
<li><span class="rec-format">Strong</span> written communication skills and attention to detail</li>
<li>Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary engineering teams</li>
<li>Understanding of ALARP <span class="rec-format">principles</span> and safety <span class="rec-format">management</span> processes</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>The Product Safety Team:</strong></p>
<p>The Product Safety Team plays a vital role in ensuring submarine systems are developed and delivered safely. As part of this team, you will work closely with Systems Engineers and other engineering disciplines to ensure safety considerations are embedded throughout the design, development and delivery of submarine capability.</p>
<p>You will support safety case development activities including safety requirements <span class="rec-format">management</span>, hazard identification and <span class="rec-format">analysis</span>, hazard data <span class="rec-format">management</span>, application of the ALARP <span class="rec-format">principle</span> and the production of safety documentation.</p>
<p>BAE Systems Submarines is currently experiencing a period of significant growth and is opening a new office in Coventry to support ongoing submarine programmes. Relocation support packages may be available across submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.</p>
