<p><strong>What you will be doing:</strong></p>
<p>In this role, you will <span class="rec-format">lead</span> and <span class="rec-format">manage</span> the end-to-end safety requirements process within the Dreadnought Combat Systems Safety Engineering Team. You will ensure safety requirements are accurately captured, decomposed, governed, and communicated across multiple stakeholders, supporting the delivery of <span class="rec-format">complex</span> submarine combat system sub-systems.</p>
<p><strong>Core duties:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><span class="rec-format">Manage</span> all safety requirements flowing from whole boat into combat systems, ensuring accurate capture, traceability, and configuration <span class="rec-format">control</span> within DOORS in a <span class="rec-format">complex</span> engineering environment</li>
<li><span class="rec-format">Lead</span> requirements decomposition activities (including DSRs, 4SFRs and 5SFRs) following Safety Team <span class="rec-format">analysis</span>, aligned with the V lifecycle model and INCOSE systems engineering <span class="rec-format">principles</span></li>
<li>Maintain robust requirements governance, change <span class="rec-format">control</span>, and configuration <span class="rec-format">management</span> across the safety lifecycle</li>
<li>Provide clear, concise, and evidence-based reporting to the Senior Engineering <span class="rec-format">Manager</span> on safety requirements status, progress, risks, and compliance</li>
<li>Liaise with subsystem teams, suppliers, and safety engineers to ensure alignment, consistency, and effective communication of requirements</li>
<li>Support gap <span class="rec-format">analysis</span> between formal safety requirements and supplier assumptions to ensure compliance and technical integrity</li>
<li>Ensure safety requirements are appropriately defined, validated, and maintained using <span class="rec-format">strong</span> systems engineering practice</li>
<li>Produce high-quality technical documentation and communicate engineering <span class="rec-format">decisions</span> effectively to stakeholders at all levels</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Essential Skills:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Degree qualified in a STEM discipline or equivalent experience</li>
<li><span class="rec-format">Strong</span> understanding of safety engineering or systems engineering <span class="rec-format">principles</span> within <span class="rec-format">complex</span> engineering environments</li>
<li>Experience with requirements <span class="rec-format">management</span> tools (e.g. DOORS) and configuration <span class="rec-format">control</span> processes</li>
<li>Knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle and V-model development approach</li>
<li>Ability to <span class="rec-format">analyse</span>, structure, and decompose <span class="rec-format">complex</span> technical requirements</li>
<li><span class="rec-format">Strong</span> communication skills with the ability to engage and influence multiple stakeholders</li>
<li>Experience working in regulated or safety-critical environments (e.g. defence, maritime, nuclear, aerospace)</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>The Dreadnought Combat Systems Safety Engineering Team:</strong></p>
<p>This team offers a unique opportunity to apply your requirements <span class="rec-format">management</span> <span class="rec-format">expertise</span> to <span class="rec-format">complex</span> submarine combat system sub-systems, working alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists across the full lifecycle of advanced defence systems. Relocation support is available for eligible Submarine roles, subject to criteria.</p>
