<p><strong>Job Description:</strong></p>
<p>As a member of the<strong> </strong>Dreadnought Platform Mechanical Engineering<strong> </strong>team. Your role is responsible for <span class="rec-format">leading</span> the design of a mechanical system(s), sub-systems and equipment for the next generation Royal Navy submarines. This will include undertaking functional design activities, calculations and <span class="rec-format">analysis</span>. You’ll also produce design documentation, Verification & Validation evidence and safety justifications in this role.</p>
<p>Through close collaboration with our suppliers and key stakeholders, you will be leading the development of design documents to achieve design completion, reviewing supplier documentation, demonstrating compliance with technical requirements and undertaking assessment of design compliance to support the development of our systems. This includes system-level design, technical responsibility, supplier engagement, and the opportunity to support build, test and commissioning activities across a major submarine programme.</p>
<p><strong>Core duties:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>You will be specifying major equipment and support to procurement, qualification and acceptance activities, working collaboratively with suppliers</li>
<li>You will provide specialist knowledge and subject matter <span class="rec-format">expertise</span> support the installation, integration and commissioning activities associated with the system and equipment</li>
<li>You will engage with stakeholders across the cross-functional project team</li>
<li>You will mentor junior engineers in the team</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Essential Skills:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>You will be degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or relevant subject, or equivalent experience</li>
<li>You will have proven experience in designing mechanical systems and specifying <span class="rec-format">complex</span>, high value mechanical equipment</li>
<li>You will be able to drive various engineering tasks with your excellent communication skills and significant experience of dealing with internal and external stakeholders at all levels</li>
<li>You will have knowledge of the complete engineering lifecycle with experience of operating in a number of the key lifecycle phases including requirements, system design, integration and acceptance</li>
<li>You will bring Good awareness of product safety and <span class="rec-format">SHE</span> to the role</li>

<p>This is an exciting time to join a dynamic engineering team on the largest and most complex UK defence programme, which is currently transitioning from system design to build and commissioning support, where your expertise will help drive the delivery of critical mechanical systems into Test & Commissioning..</p>
