<p><strong>Job Description:</strong></p>
<p>The Combat Systems (CS) Engineer – Combat Systems Field Support will provide in-service support to CMS and Shared Infrastructure systems across RN platforms; Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers, <span class="rec-format">Type</span> 45 Destroyers, <span class="rec-format">Type</span> 23 Frigates, and soon to include <span class="rec-format">Type</span> 26 Frigates and <span class="rec-format">Type</span> 31 Inspiration class. This role is within the RECODE (Real Time Combat System Open Data Enablers) Ship Support Team.</p>
<p><span class="rec-format">The role</span> will provide engineering <span class="rec-format">expertise</span> and experience to support the delivery of the RECODE Field Support service. This encompasses engineering support to Operational Defects (OPDEF) investigations and system technical issues, on platforms and remotely. Additionally, <span class="rec-format">the role</span> involves conducting the platform installation and acceptance of system upgrades in accordance with the RECODE release schedule.</p>
<p><strong>Core duties:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Support investigations of Operational defects and system issues through engineering support visits to Royal Navy platforms wherever deployed (domestic and international)</li>
<li>Provide remote technical support via email and telephone for the RECODE in service Combat <span class="rec-format">Management</span> Systems (CMS) and Shared Infrastructure (SI) product lines</li>
<li>Performing diagnosis and rectification of electrical, network, hardware, software and system issues with reference to technical drawings, documentation and collaboration with engineering teams to improve support service quality</li>
<li>Configuring hardware/software in preparation for supporting Ship installations and commissioning across all supported RN platforms and land-based test sites</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Essential Skills:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Academic qualification in Engineering or a related STEM subject; relevant academic or professional certification (e.g., Royal Navy apprenticeship or BAE internal training); recognition by an appropriate professional institution; professionally registered as EngTech or ICTTech.</li>
<li>An Engineer with experience in a hardware/software domain in Combat System Equipment, ideally CMS (Combat <span class="rec-format">Management</span> System) or SI (Shared Infrastructure) used in the maritime environment</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>The RECODE Field Support Team:</strong></p>
<p>Dynamic, collaborative and <span class="rec-format">fast paced</span> in a ‘customer facing’ role with often emergent and changing demands requiring a broad range of skills and <span class="rec-format">competencies</span>. This includes opportunities for travel domestic and international as required. Implementing latest system technology upgrades including hardware and software installations at <span class="rec-format">leading</span> edge of latest technologies in a <span class="rec-format">complex</span>, <span class="rec-format">challenging</span> and fulfilling domain. This role provides an opportunity for professional development and contribution to a ‘niche and scarce’ role in a business critical and high profile project (RECODE).</p>
