Totalis is a private company with over 20 years of experience in delivering high-quality solutions in the UK and Ireland.<br><br>Apply (by clicking the relevant button) after checking through all the related job information below.<br><br>With a one-stop-shop approach, Totalis addresses a full spectrum of property portfolio needs, from Build and Fit-Out to Facilities Management.<br><br>Totalis is positioned to add value to projects of any scale by meeting clients' unique requirements with efficient and comprehensive services.<br><br>Job Summary As a Trainee Quantity Surveyor specialising in Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) projects, you play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality and cost-effective solutions.<br><br>Working closely with our experienced team, you are involved in cost estimation, procurement, valuations, and project support, helping ensure successful outcomes for our clients.<br><br>Your enthusiasm for learning and commitment to excellence enable you to grow within the role, developing the technical and professional skills needed to thrive in the construction and engineering sectors.<br><br>You are an integral part of our team, contributing to the success of our projects and the wider business.<br><br>Key Responsibilities Cost Management and Estimation Assist in preparing cost estimates for M&E components of projects.<br><br>Support in monitoring and controlling project budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness.<br><br>Participate in the preparation of bills of quantities and pricing documents.<br><br>Procurement and Subcontractor Management Assist in obtaining and analysing supplier and subcontractor quotations.<br><br>Support procurement processes, ensuring compliance with project specifications.<br><br>Develop knowledge of contracts, particularly relating to M&E works.<br><br>Valuations and Variations Aid in preparing valuations for interim applications and final accounts.<br><br>Support in identifying and managing variations, ensuring timely resolution.<br><br>Assist in the preparation of claims and progress reports.<br><br>Project Support Work alongside the project delivery team to ensure M&E aspects align with project objectives.<br><br>Conduct site visits to measure works and verify completed tasks.<br><br>Assist in preparing and maintaining accurate project records and documentation.<br><br>Collaboration and Communication Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure clarity in project requirements.<br><br>Attend meetings to develop a clear understanding of project deliverables.<br><br>Provide administrative and technical support to senior staff as required.<br><br>Person Specification Qualifications and Education Essential: Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A-C/9-4, including Mathematics and English.<br><br>A-Level qualifications or equivalent, with a preference for STEM subjects (e.g., Mathematics, Physics, or Economics).<br><br>Desirable: Currently studying or planning to pursue a degree or HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.<br><br>Experience Essential: Work experience or internships in construction, engineering, or related fields (may include part-time or summer roles).<br><br>Basic understanding of the mechanical and electrical industry.<br><br>Desirable: Exposure to mechanical and electrical (M&E) systems in a work or academic setting.<br><br>Experience using PSA pricing software.<br><br>Skills and Knowledge Essential: Strong numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail.<br><br>Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.<br><br>Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.<br><br>Desirable: Knowledge of PSA schedules and pricing software.<br><br>Familiarity with quantity surveying principles, such as cost planning, estimating, and valuations.<br><br>Knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC).<br><br>Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems terminology and applications.<br><br>Personal Attributes Essential: Eager to learn and develop technical and professional skills.<br><br>Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively.<br><br>A team player with a proactive approach to problem-solving.<br><br>Enthusiasm for the construction industry and a commitment to delivering quality work.<br><br>Desirable: Ambition to progress within the company.<br><br>Other Requirements Essential: Full UK driving license or working towards obtaining one.<br><br>Desirable: Flexible and adaptable to working in different environments and as part of diverse teams. xwzovoh <br><br>SALARY<br>- £27,350<br>- £37,000 dependent on experience.<br>TPBN1_NI
