Software Tester

<p>QA Tester, London (4 days onsite), £45,000 - £55,000 + Benefits (including Share Options)</p><p><br><br>Scroll down for a complete overview of what this job will require Are you the right candidate for this opportunity<br></p><p>We’re hiring a <strong>QA Automation Engineer</strong> to help transition from primarily manual testing to a modern, automation-first quality approach. This is a hands-on role where you’ll shape testing strategy, build frameworks, and improve release confidence across the product.</p><p><br></p><p>You’ll work closely with engineering, product, and operations to ensure software is reliable, testable, and delivered efficiently.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>What You’ll Do</strong></p><ul><li>Own and evolve the <strong>test automation strategy</strong> across unit, integration, and end-to-end layers</li><li>Build and maintain automated tests for <strong>both frontend (React) and backend (Node/TypeScript)</strong></li><li>Develop a robust <strong>E2E testing suite</strong> using <strong>Playwright</strong> (or similar)</li><li>Expand unit and integration coverage using Jest and <strong>API testing tools</strong></li><li>Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines with fast feedback and clear reporting</li><li>Improve system <strong>testability</strong> (architecture, selectors, observability, test hooks)</li><li>Manage test data, environments, fixtures, and mocks to reduce flaky tests</li><li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define acceptance criteria and reduce regressions</li><li>Support and improve manual QA processes during the transition to automation</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Experience Needed:</strong></p><ul><li>Proven experience<strong> building automation for modern web applications</strong></li><li>Hands-on experience with <strong>Playwright (or similar) and Jest (or equivalent)</strong></li><li>Experience testing both <strong>UI and API layers</strong></li><li>Practical experience with<strong> CI pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions)</strong></li><li>Strong focus on reliability, stability, and actionable xwzovoh test outcomes</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Nice to Have</strong></p><ul><li>Experience writing automation in TypeScript</li><li>Knowledge of contract testing, component testing, or performance testing</li><li>Familiarity with Docker-based test environments and databases (PostgreSQL/MongoDB)</li><li>Experience in regulated industries (e.g. fintech, payroll)</li><li>Experience supporting teams transitioning from manual to automated testing</li></ul><p><br></p><p>If you're interested in this opportunity to join a growing technology scale-up in London and have a strong Manual & Automation QA background please apply with a copy of your CV.</p>
