<p>Job Description</p><br>Making sure you fit the guidelines as an applicant for this role is essential, please read the below carefully.<br><p>Pastoral Co-ordinator</p><p>Location: Witham, Essex Start Date: End of May 2026 Contract: Temporary (until 17 July 2026) Hours: 37 hours per week, term time</p><p>seeking a committed and compassionate Pastoral Co-ordinator to join our team on a temporary basis. This is a vital role supporting the wellbeing, behaviour, and engagement of students, ensuring that every young person feels safe, valued, and able to succeed.</p><p>Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and Head of Year, you will take a proactive role in delivering outstanding pastoral care, promoting high standards of behaviour and attendance, and supporting students to thrive both academically and personally.</p><p>Key Responsibilities</p><p>Student Welfare & Pastoral Care</p><ul><li>Provide high-quality pastoral support to students across a designated year group</li><li>Identify and support students facing personal or social challenges</li><li>Act as a key worker for vulnerable students, including those with SEND, EHCPs, or safeguarding concerns</li><li>Promote a caring, inclusive, and supportive school environment</li></ul><p>Behaviour & Attendance</p><ul><li>Support the implementation of behaviour and attendance policies</li><li>Work with staff to promote positive behaviour across the school</li><li>Monitor behaviour trends and implement targeted intervention plans</li><li>Respond to and de-escalate incidents as part of the behaviour response team</li><li>Support suspension processes and student reintegration</li><li>Work with the Attendance Officer to improve attendance and reduce truancy</li></ul><p>Data & Systems</p><ul><li>Maintain accurate pastoral and behaviour records on the school MIS</li><li>Monitor and analyse data to identify trends and inform interventions</li><li>Produce reports for senior leaders on pastoral outcomes and improvements</li></ul><p>Working with Stakeholders</p><ul><li>Build strong relationships with students, families, and staff</li><li>Lead meetings with parents/carers to support student outcomes</li><li>Liaise with external agencies such as social services and health professionals</li><li>Represent the school at multi-agency meetings when required</li></ul><p>What We Are Looking For</p><p>Essential</p><ul><li>GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above)</li><li>Experience supporting young people and promoting high expectations</li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication xwzovoh skills</li><li>Ability to manage behaviour calmly and effectively</li><li>Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection</li><li>Ability to analyse data and implement targeted support</li></ul><p>Desirable</p><ul><li>Previous experience in a school or educational setting</li><li>A Levels, degree, or equivalent qualifications</li><li>Experience working with external agencies</li><li>Knowledge of attendance or exclusion processes</li><li>Experience supporting students with SEMH needs</li></ul><p>Personal Qualities</p><ul><li>Empathetic, patient, and resilient</li><li>Positive role model with high expectations of students</li><li>Proactive and solution-focused</li><li>Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities</li><li>Passionate about improving outcomes for young people</li></ul>
