Job description
Job Purpose:<br><br>The following information aims to provide potential candidates with a better understanding of the requirements for this role.<br><br>To provide high-quality nursing care to older residents in a care home setting, many of whom may have a range of complex conditions, including dementia, frailty, chronic illnesses, or sensory impairments. The RGN will ensure residents’ physical, emotional, and psychological well-being is supported in a safe, compassionate, and person-centred environment. The role involves working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and carers to deliver exceptional standards of care tailored to the diverse needs of an older population.<br><br>Key Responsibilities:<br><br>Clinical Care:<br><br> * Deliver direct nursing care to older residents, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.<br><br> * Administer medications safely in accordance with NMC guidelines.<br><br> * Monitor and manage residents’ health, including chronic conditions, acute illnesses, and end-of-life care.<br><br> * Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential nursing records.<br><br> * Implement care plans in line with individual resident needs and preferences.<br><br>Dementia & Older Adult Care:<br><br> * Promote a person-centred approach to care, recognising individual needs, behaviours, and cognitive abilities.<br><br> * Support residents with dementia, frailty, or sensory impairments, ensuring dignity and independence are maintained.<br><br> * Use appropriate communication techniques for residents with cognitive or sensory challenges.<br><br> * Implement therapeutic activities and interventions tailored to residents’ abilities and interests.<br><br>Teamwork & Leadership:<br><br> * Supervise and support junior staff, healthcare assistants, and agency nurses.<br><br> * Participate in staff training and professional development initiatives.<br><br> * Liaise with families, carers, GPs, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.<br><br>Compliance & Safety:<br><br> * Ensure compliance with CQC standards, NMC guidelines, and care home policies.<br><br> * Maintain infection control standards and health & safety protocols.<br><br> * Report and escalate clinical incidents promptly.<br><br>Qualifications & Experience:<br><br> * Registered General Nurse (RGN) with valid NMC registration.<br><br> * Experience in elderly care, residential care, or dementia care is highly desirable.<br><br> * Knowledge of person-centred care, dementia care best practices, and older adult care approaches.<br><br> * Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.<br><br>Skills & Attributes:<br><br> * Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.<br><br> * Compassionate, patient, and empathetic nature.<br><br> * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.<br><br> * Ability to manage challenging behaviours calmly and effectively.<br><br> * Organised, attentive to detail, and able to prioritise effectively.<br><br>Benefits:<br><br> * Competitive salary and pension scheme.<br><br> * Paid training and continuous professional development. xwzovoh <br><br> * Supportive working environment with career progression opportunities.<br><br> * Staff discounts, wellness programs, and other perks
