Principal Mechanical Engineer – Electric Machines

We’re looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, integration, and validation of advanced electric machines in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.</p><p><br></p><p>This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you’ll take ownership of motor design from concept through to production—working at the cutting edge of electrification.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>What You’ll Be Doing</strong></p><ul><li>Lead mechanical design of electric machines (rotor, stator, shaft, housing, bearings)</li><li>Develop air-cooled thermal management strategies and validate real-world performance</li><li>Integrate key components including magnets, windings, insulation, and sensing systems</li><li>Conduct analysis across stress, vibration, rotor dynamics, and thermal behaviour</li><li>Define and deliver test & validation plans (performance, durability, efficiency)</li><li>Lead FMEA, root cause analysis, and design robustness activities</li><li>Collaborate with electromagnetic, controls, and test teams</li><li>Ensure designs are manufacturable, scalable, and cost-effective</li><li>Support customer and internal stakeholders with clear technical communication</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>What We’re Looking For</strong></p><ul><li>Strong experience in electric motor/mechanical design</li><li>Deep understanding of rotor dynamics, thermal management, and structural integrity</li><li>Experience with validation, testing, and failure analysis</li><li>Ability to translate performance targets into practical engineering solutions</li><li>Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>The Opportunity</strong></p><p>Work on cutting-edge integrated electric powertrain technology in a growing, agile business. xwzovoh You’ll play a key role in delivering products from concept to reality, influencing both design and strategy.</p><p> <strong>Start:</strong> May / June</p><p> <strong>Salary:</strong> Competitive / Negotiable</p><p> Apply with CV to </p><p>For the full job description visit: </p><p>Strictly no agency CVs!</p>
