<p>Tritanium Space Defence & Technology are looking for a<strong> Systems Engineer</strong> (<strong>Networking & Communications) </strong>to design, build, and support the communication networks that power USV and AUV platforms.</p><p><br><br>If you are considering sending an application, make sure to hit the apply button below after reading through the entire description.<br></p><p>This role blends systems thinking, hands‑on engineering, and real‑world deployment that is perfect for someone who loves making complex systems work reliably in challenging marine environments.</p><p><br></p><p> <strong>What You’ll Be Doing</strong></p><p><br></p><p>You’ll be responsible for ensuring secure, high‑performance data flow between autonomous vessels, motherships, remote operators, cloud services, and onboard sensors.</p><p><br></p><p>The role combines:</p><ul><li><strong>Systems engineering</strong> - requirements, architecture, integration</li><li><strong>Network & communications engineering</strong> - routing, RF, radios, protocols, data links</li><li><strong>Hands‑on testing & field work</strong> - lab setups, bench testing, sea trials</li></ul><p><br></p><p>This is a role for someone who enjoys building real systems, configuring hardware, solving problems in the field, and making networks behave exactly as intended.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><p><br></p><p> <strong>Network & Communications Architecture</strong></p><ul><li>Design and document end‑to‑end comms architectures for USVs and AUVs (radio, satellite, cellular, mesh, Wi‑Fi, acoustic).</li><li>Develop routing strategies, link redundancy, failover paths, and network configurations.</li><li>Define and maintain IP schemes, VLANs, firewall rules, QoS, bandwidth allocation, and encryption.</li></ul><p><br></p><p> <strong>Integration & Testing</strong></p><ul><li>Configure and integrate routers, switches, modems, radios, antennas, cloud‑hosted routers, and onboard compute.</li><li>Conduct bench tests, HIL setups, and performance diagnostics (latency, throughput, RF quality).</li><li>Support sea trials to validate real‑world communications performance.</li></ul><p><br></p><p> <strong>Operational Support</strong></p><ul><li>Diagnose comms failures, interference, and network bottlenecks during development and deployment.</li><li>Support live missions with bandwidth management, link tuning, troubleshooting, and system reconfiguration.</li></ul><p><br></p><p> <strong>Systems Engineering</strong></p><ul><li>Produce requirements, ICDs, test plans, and verification documentation.</li><li>Run trade studies on new comms technologies (satcom, mesh, acoustic modems).</li><li>Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, and autonomy teams for seamless integration.</li></ul><p><br></p><p> <strong>Client & Project Engagement</strong></p><ul><li>Provide technical support to operations and project teams.</li><li>Help design tailored communication solutions for specific missions and environments.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Skills & Experience</strong></p><p><br></p><p><strong>Essential</strong></p><ul><li>Degree in Networking, Telecommunications, Electrical/Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar.</li><li>Strong IP networking experience (routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, QoS, VPNs).</li><li>Knowledge of RF and wireless comms (antennas, propagation, fundamentals).</li><li>Hands‑on experience configuring network hardware (Cisco, MikroTik, Ubiquiti, Peplink, etc.).</li><li>Understanding of satellite, 4G/5G, Wi‑Fi, or RF mesh systems.</li><li>Experience with cloud‑hosted services.</li><li>Comfortable building, testing, and troubleshooting real hardware.</li><li>Familiarity with Linux networking tools.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Desirable</strong></p><ul><li>Experience with Ansible, AWS, OpenWRT, WireGuard, RouterOS.</li><li>Marine communications experience (AIS, maritime radios, acoustic comms).</li><li>Networking for autonomous systems (UAVs, robots, mobile platforms).</li><li>Cybersecurity knowledge (secure comms, certificates, hardening).</li><li>Familiarity with ROS/ROS2 networking, DDS, or middleware. xwzovoh </li><li>Experience with field deployments and remote operations.</li></ul><p><br></p><p>If you would like to explore this opportunity further, please apply now!</p>
