<p><strong>Lead RF Design Engineer</strong></p><p> County Durham (On-site)</p><p> Up to £85,000 + benefits</p><p> Relocation support + visa sponsorship available</p><p><br><br>Qualifications, skills, and all relevant experience needed for this role can be found in the full description below.<br></p><p>A leading RF and microwave technology business is seeking a <strong>Lead RF/mmWave Design Engineer</strong> to play a key role in driving technical delivery and guiding a high-performing engineering team.</p><p><br></p><p>This is a hands-on leadership position where you’ll combine deep RF expertise with team mentorship, shaping the development of advanced telecommunications and defence systems.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>The Role</strong></p><p>As a Lead RF/mmWave Design Engineer, you’ll take ownership of RF design strategy and execution, while supporting and developing engineers across the full product lifecycle, from concept through to production.</p><p><br></p><p>You’ll act as a technical authority within the team, ensuring best-in-class design practices and high-performance delivery across complex RF and mmWave systems.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Lead and mentor a team of RF engineers, providing technical guidance and support</li><li>Own the design and development of RF/mmWave circuits, modules, and systems</li><li>Drive best practice across transmission lines, filters, couplers, and synthesiser/multiplier design</li><li>Oversee simulation, modelling, and performance optimisation (ADS, CST, EMPro, Microwave Office)</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>What We’re Looking For</strong></p><ul><li>Degree in RF, Microwave, or Communications Engineering (or similar)</li><li>Strong background in RF / microwave circuit and system design</li><li>Experience leading projects or mentoring engineers (formal or informal leadership)</li><li>Proven use of industry-standard RF tools (ADS, CST, EMPro, xwzovoh etc.)</li><li>Experience with transceiver design and high-frequency PCB development</li><li>Hands-on, solutions-driven mindset with strong technical ownership</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Why Join?</strong></p><ul><li>Step into a leadership role with real influence over team and technical direction</li><li>Work on cutting-edge RF/mmWave systems in telecoms and defence</li><li>Join a growing, well-established engineering business with long-term stability</li><li>Clear progression into principal or engineering management pathways</li><li>Full relocation support and visa sponsorship available</li></ul>
