Junior AWS Platform Engineer - Quant Hedge Fund (London / Hybrid)

<p>Junior AWS Platform Engineer with 1-3 years of experience sought to join a leading Quant Hedge Fund, famed for their friendly and supportive culture.</p><p><br><br>A high number of candidates may make applications for this position, so make sure to send your CV and application through as soon as possible.<br></p><p>The firm are looking for an AWS-focused Platform Engineer to assist with their ongoing Cloud adoption and to collaborate directly with Quant Research and QD/Software teams, providing expertise and guidance in infrastructure usage. The opportunity would suit someone with a combination of strong development and operational skills across AWS, Terraform, Python, CI/CD, as well as commercial Linux, Docker and Kubernetes experience.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p><p><br></p><p>Your key tasks will be to facilitate the wider adoption of AWS technologies and modern infrastructure patterns within the wider business. Example projects include:</p><p><br></p><ul><li>Supporting and developing firmwide usage of Infrastructure-as-Code utilities, with a particular focus on enabling teams to manage their own application stacks.</li><li>Enhancing CI/CD capabilities (CI, testing, deployments).</li><li>Working with the other teams to enable and support their usage of AWS technologies, with a particular focus on the Research and Development areas.</li><li>Help drive migration away from legacy infrastructure.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Technologies:</strong></p><p><br></p><ul><li>AWS: Compute (EC2, ECS & EKS)</li></ul><p><br></p><ol><li>Storage (S3, EBS, EFS & FSX)</li><li>Security (IAM & SAML, Config, CloudTrail)</li><li>Automation (EventBridge, Lambda)</li><li>Logging & Monitoring (OpenSearch, CloudWatch, AMP, AMG)</li><li>Managed Services (MWAA, MSK, Kinesis)</li></ol><p><br></p><ul><li>Terraform & Terraform Cloud</li><li>Scripting and automation (Bash, Python & PowerShell)</li><li>Additional Hashicorp tools (Vault & Packer)</li><li>CI/CD solutions (Jenkins, TeamCity, Argo)</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Your experience</strong> :</p><p><br></p><ul><li>1-3 years in a similar role (previous finance experience is not necessary).</li><li>Solid knowledge of AWS technologies, particularly Container, Serverless, Automation and Security.</li><li>Hands on experience designing and building testing & deployment pipelines - especially Jenkins, TeamCity and/or ArgoCD.</li><li>Good working knowledge of Linux and Docker.</li><li>Kubernetes experience preferred - especially Amazon EKS.</li><li>Strong scripting abilities - especially witih Python.</li></ul><p><br></p><p>This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established Quant Hedge Fund with an excellent friendly culture and work/life balance (three days per week onsite).
