Job Title: HGV Class 2 Location: Walthamstow Basic Salary: £18.06 to £20.27 per hour Employment Type: Ongoing, Temp to Perm Available<br><br>Are you ready to apply Make sure you understand all the responsibilities and tasks associated with this role before proceeding.<br>Job Description: We are currently seeking experienced and reliable HGV Class 2 Driver (s) to join the despatch team of a major bakery distribution centre in Walthamstow . The role involves multi-drop deliveries of bakery goods to major retailers and distribution points, with an emphasis on physical activity and safety compliance.<br>This is a 7-day operation , and candidates must be available for flexible shift patterns , including weekends and nights. Deliveries are made using barn-door vehicles and tail-lifts , and all product handling is done using wheeled bread dollies .<br><br>Shift Pattern:<br>Night Deliveries: Start between 15:00 and 19:00<br>Day Runs: Start between 00:30 and 04:30<br>Routes: Range from 6 to 18 drops depending on distance<br>Schedule: Minimum 4 shifts per week available<br>Rotational Routing: Drivers typically rotate through 34 regular delivery routes<br><br>Key Responsibilities : Multi-drop deliveries to supermarkets, petrol stations, and commercial sites<br>Manual handling of bread dollies (pushing/pulling/loading/unloading)<br>Operation of tail-lift vehicles and use of PDAs for delivery tracking<br>Route familiarisation and safe vehicle handling<br>Communication of any delays, issues, or compliance breaches to the depot<br><br>Requirements : Valid UK HGV Class 2 Driver (Category C) licence<br>Valid CPC and UK-issued Digital Tachograph Card<br>Minimum 12 months recent HGV Class 2 Driver experience (longer preferred)<br>Maximum 6 points on licence (minor only no DR, DD, or IN codes)<br>Physical fitness to complete full shifts and handle frequent loading tasks<br>Familiarity with PDA devices and multi-drop delivery processes<br>Full PPE: Safety footwear, gloves, hi-vis vest<br>Must hold or be eligible for a Site Passport Card<br><br>Induction & Assessment:<br>Unpaid assessment (approx. 2 hours)<br>Paid 8-hour induction includes theory test (driver hours, WTD), vehicle check, and site induction<br>Minimum 2-day shadowing with experienced drivers<br>Failed assessments result in a 3-month wait period before reassessment<br><br>Benefits : Weekly pay via integrated clock-in system<br>Access to canteen, secure entry, and on-site facilities<br>Stable ongoing shifts (minimum 4 per week if trained)<br>Opportunity to move into Temp-to-Perm roles for reliable drivers<br><br>Pay Rates : PAYE:<br>Day Shift: £18.06per hour + Holiday<br>Night Shift: £20.27 per hour + Holiday<br><br>How To Apply : If you meet the above requirements and are ready to take on this exciting opportunity, we want to hear from you!<br>To apply, you will need to click apply, or one of our Account Managers will provide a link which will redirect you to our platform, QBIS, and choose one of the following options:<br>Quick Apply: Select this option for a brief application process.
