<p><strong>Job Title:</strong> Fire & Security Service Engineer</p><p><strong>Location:</strong> Edinburgh</p><p><strong>Job Type:</strong> Full-Time, Permanent</p><p><strong>Schedule:</strong> Monday to Friday (plus call-out rota as required)</p><p><br><br>Have you got what it takes to succeed The following information should be read carefully by all candidates.<br></p><p><strong>Job Purpose</strong></p><p>We are looking for a skilled and reliable <strong>Fire & Security Service Engineer</strong> to join our growing Fire & Security Service teams. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), Reactive Maintenance, and emergency support across a range of Fire & Security Systems. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance, safety, and system reliability across customer sites.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Carry out routine PPM in line with scheduled tasks and industry standards.</li><li>Respond effectively to reactive maintenance calls, breakdowns, and emergency situations.</li><li>Perform fault diagnosis and repairs on a range of fire alarm, CCTV (IP & analogue), access control, and intruder alarm systems.</li><li>Ensure compliance with all relevant Health and Safety legislation and company procedures.</li><li>Complete detailed and accurate job documentation, reports, and asset records.</li><li>Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers for specialist system support and installations.</li><li>Support and liaise with clients, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.</li><li>Take part in an on-call rota for emergency response, as required.</li><li>Identify opportunities for system upgrades, replacements, or improvements.</li><li>Assist other trade teams on-site when required.</li><li>Work proactively to support continuous service improvement and contract growth.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Working Relationships</strong></p><p><strong>Internal:</strong></p><ul><li>Engineering Coordinators</li><li>Service Managers</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>External:</strong></p><ul><li>Clients and client representatives</li><li>Subcontractors, suppliers, and system manufacturers</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Qualifications & Experience</strong></p><p><strong>Essential:</strong></p><ul><li>Recognised Fire & Security Apprenticeship or equivalent experience</li><li>Health & Safety training (e.g. Manual Handling, Working at Height)</li><li>Strong experience in fire alarm systems with supporting certifications</li><li>IP and analogue CCTV system experience</li><li>Current ECS card with Chapter 8 awareness</li><li>IPAF trained</li><li>Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English</li><li>Industry experience in service, fault finding, and maintenance of fire & security systems</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Desirable:</strong></p><ul><li>City & Guilds 2360 Part 3 or equivalent qualification</li><li>Experience with IT and networking related to security systems</li><li>Supervisory experience (or ambition for future progression)</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Competencies</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Teamwork:</strong> Works collaboratively to achieve shared goals</li><li><strong>Communication:</strong> Clear, professional, and effective with all stakeholders</li><li><strong>Planning & Organisation:</strong> Manages time, tasks, and priorities efficiently</li><li><strong>Commercial Awareness:</strong> Understands the impact of costs and efficiencies</li><li><strong>Risk Awareness:</strong> Identifies and mitigates operational risks</li><li><strong>Customer Focus:</strong> Delivers excellent service and builds positive relationships</li><li><strong>Adaptability:</strong> Responds positively to change and challenge</li><li><strong>Self-Motivation:</strong> Demonstrates initiative and a proactive approach</li><li><strong>Drive for Excellence:</strong> Committed to continuous improvement and quality</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Health & Safety</strong></p><p>All staff are required to take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and others, and to comply with all company health and safety policies and procedures.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Dalkia</strong></p><p>At Dalkia, we are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
