<p><strong>Manufacturing Facilities Engineer — Defence & Advanced Manufacturing (North West)</strong></p><p><strong>Salary:</strong> £45,000–£55,000 + benefits | <strong>Location:</strong> Greater Manchester | <strong>Contract:</strong> Permanent</p><p><br><br>Please read the information in this job post thoroughly to understand exactly what is expected of potential candidates.<br></p><p>A leading UK defence technology manufacturer — operating at the forefront of precision engineering and advanced manufacturing — is seeking an experienced <strong>Manufacturing Facilities Engineer</strong> to oversee and continually improve the performance, safety, and efficiency of their production sites in the North West. The business is known for its engineering excellence, innovation, and investment in long-term infrastructure to support cutting-edge defence programs.</p><p>In this role, you’ll work closely with site leadership to develop and drive a comprehensive rolling facilities improvement plan, supporting uninterrupted manufacturing operations across a highly regulated environment. You’ll have direct responsibility for capital projects, vendor and contractor management, and compliance with all safety and environmental standards.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Develop and implement a 3-year facilities strategy aligned with wider operational goals.</li><li>Lead capital and improvement projects to enhance infrastructure performance.</li><li>Oversee maintenance, safety, and regulatory compliance across manufacturing sites.</li><li>Manage supplier and contractor relationships to ensure operational continuity.</li><li>Support the implementation and ongoing improvement of CMMS systems and preventive maintenance programs.</li><li>Drive continuous improvement and best practice across the facilities team.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>What we’re looking for:</strong></p><ul><li>HND/HNC (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.</li><li>Proven experience in facilities or maintenance engineering within a manufacturing, defence, or regulated environment.</li><li>Knowledge of compliance standards such as PUWER, LOTO, and HSE regulations.</li><li>Track record in delivering capital expenditure projects.</li><li>Strong man-management skills and ability to influence at all levels.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Desirable:</strong></p><ul><li>NEBOSH or equivalent health & safety qualification.</li><li>Familiarity with CMMS platforms (Agility or similar).</li><li>Any exposure to LEAN, Six Sigma, or project management tools (PRINCE2, PMP).</li></ul><p><br></p><p>This is an opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation that values technical rigour, precision, and long-term career growth.
