<p>Job Description</p><br>The information below covers the role requirements, expected candidate experience, and accompanying qualifications.<br><p>Elevation Recruitment Group’s Design & Projects division are working with a key engineering client in Plymouth to recruit a Design Engineer on a 3-month fixed term contract.</p><p>This is a hands-on, project-focused role supporting a busy engineering team with both new product development and existing product improvements. You’ll play a key role in delivering design solutions to tight timescales, contributing across the full product lifecycle from concept through to production support.</p><p>Design Engineer – Key Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Lead the design and development of new and existing products, supporting delivery from concept through to production</li><li>Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, high-quality design solutions</li><li>Create, update, and manage 3D CAD models and engineering drawings, ensuring accurate version control</li><li>Design and source jigs, fixtures, and production tooling to support manufacturing</li><li>Produce technical documentation including design specifications, risk assessments, test plans, and manuals</li><li>Carry out mechanical analysis and validation to ensure compliance with relevant standards</li><li>Support production with troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives</li><li>Provide technical input to internal stakeholders including sales and operations</li><li>Liaise with suppliers and external partners to support project delivery</li><li>Assist with cost estimation, project tracking, and meeting delivery milestones</li></ul><p>Design Engineer – Experience & Qualifications</p><ul><li>Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)</li><li>Proven experience in a Design Engineer role within a manufacturing or engineering environment</li><li>Experience within a regulated industry (e.g. rail, aerospace, automotive) would be advantageous</li></ul><p>Key Skills</p><ul><li>Proficient in 3D CAD (Solid Edge / Teamcenter preferred, though training can be provided)</li><li>Strong problem-solving xwzovoh ability with a practical, hands-on engineering approach</li><li>Experience producing clear technical documentation and supporting design reviews</li><li>Understanding of mechanical engineering principles and best practice design processes</li><li>Knowledge of welded fabrications and cast components highly desirable</li><li>Exposure to composites or basic electrical principles would be beneficial</li><li>Familiarity with continuous improvement tools such as PDCA</li></ul><p>This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Design Engineer available at short notice, looking for an immediate contract within a well-established engineering environment.</p>
