<p><strong>Location:</strong> Slough, England, United Kingdom</p><p><strong>Contract Type:</strong> Permanent</p><p><strong>Work Pattern:</strong> Shift-based (24x7x365)</p><p><strong>Salary: </strong>Up to £38,000</p><p><br><br>Take the next step in your career now, scroll down to read the full role description and make your application.<br></p><p>An opportunity has arisen for a <strong>multi-skilled Data Centre Engineer</strong> to join a highly regarded organisation in Hertfordshire. You will be part of a small, dedicated team delivering Data Centre services for a prestigious international financial client.</p><p>This role operates on a <strong>rotating shift pattern</strong>:</p><p>4 days on → 4 days off → 4 nights on → 4 nights off (24/7 coverage).</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Execute and adhere to change control processes</li><li>Manage and resolve incidents promptly and effectively</li><li>Track and manage Data Centre assets</li><li>Supervise and escort third-party vendors on-site</li><li>Plan, install, and decommission IT hardware in accordance with strict Data Centre standards</li><li>Install and remove structured cabling and networking equipment</li><li>Maintain and update all relevant documentation and asset inventories</li><li>Fulfil service requests within agreed service level agreements (SLAs)</li><li>Adhere to internal and client Health & Safety policies and procedures</li><li>Comply with all quality standards required by internal stakeholders and the client</li><li>Follow all approved operational processes and security protocols related to Data Centre access and control</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Technical Tasks Include:</strong></p><ul><li>Maintenance and use of Data Centre management toolsets</li><li>Governance of Data Centre operations and environment</li><li>Collaborate with facilities teams to optimise energy efficiency</li><li>Oversee daily operations including installations, changes, decommissions, and routine maintenance</li><li>Contribute to service improvement initiatives</li><li>Perform basic server configuration (e.g., iDRAC, ILO)</li><li>Fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and escalation</li><li>Racking, stacking, patching, and hardware moves or changes</li><li>Participate in major infrastructure activities such as power upgrades or replacements</li><li>Manage complex cabling layouts across racks and rooms to maintain a stable IT environment</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>What We're Looking For:</strong></p><p><strong>Essential:</strong></p><ul><li>Experience working in xwzovoh high-availability or high-risk environments, ideally in Data Centres</li><li>Strong understanding of infrastructure technologies and networking fundamentals</li><li>High attention to detail with a proactive attitude</li><li>Competency in Microsoft Office applications and IT service tools</li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team</li><li>Capable of handling pressure and meeting deadlines</li><li>Flexible and willing to adapt to shift work</li><li>Clear verbal and written communication skills at all levels</li><li>Strong organisational and problem-solving skills</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Desirable:</strong></p><ul><li>Familiarity with DCIM (Data Centre Infrastructure Management) tools and best practices</li><li>Experience using service desk platforms such as ServiceNow or Remedy</li></ul>
