<p><strong>Consultant Cardiologist – Coronary Intervention</strong></p><p>Northampton General Hospital (with sessions at Kettering General Hospital)</p><p>Full-Time | 10 PAs</p><p>NHS Consultant Salary (£109,725 – £145,478) + On-Call Supplement</p><p>Start Date: ASAP</p><p><br><br>Ready to make your application Please do read through the description at least once before clicking on Apply.<br></p><p>We are working with University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group (UHN) to recruit a Consultant Cardiologist with an interest in Coronary Intervention.</p><p><br></p><p>This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing and collaborative cardiology team, contributing to a growing interventional cardiology service across Northamptonshire.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>About the Role</strong></p><p><br></p><p>As a Consultant Cardiologist, you will:</p><ul><li>Deliver a comprehensive general cardiology and interventional service</li><li>Undertake elective and emergency coronary intervention (PCI) procedures</li><li>Participate in a 1:9 general cardiology on-call rota</li><li>Join the countywide 24/7 Primary PCI (PPCI) rota (1:9)</li><li>Provide inpatient care across CCU and cardiology wards</li><li>Contribute to outpatient clinics, MDT meetings, and service development</li></ul><p><br></p><p>You will play a key role in supporting the expansion of acute and elective coronary intervention services across the Trust.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>The Service</strong></p><p><br></p><p>The cardiology service operates across Northampton General Hospital and Kettering General Hospital, delivering:</p><ul><li>High-volume PCI service (1,100–1,400 procedures annually)</li><li>Advanced interventional techniques including IVUS, OCT, rotablation, and IVL</li><li>A well-established 24/7 PPCI service across the region</li><li>Dedicated CCU, HDU, and cardiology wards with strong MDT support</li></ul><p><br></p><p>This is part of a wider vision to develop a Cardiology Centre of Excellence, focused on innovation, research, and high-quality patient outcomes. xwzovoh </p><p><br></p><p><strong>Essential Requirements</strong></p><ul><li>Full GMC registration with Licence to Practise</li><li>CCT/CESR in Cardiology (or within 6 months)</li><li>Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Cardiology</li><li>Independent and confident PCI operator</li><li>Broad experience in general cardiology</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Desirable</strong></p><ul><li>Higher degree (MD/PhD)</li><li>Experience in teaching, audit, and research</li><li>Interest in service development and leadership</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Why Apply?</strong></p><ul><li>Join a high-volume interventional cardiology service</li><li>Work within a supportive, experienced consultant team</li><li>Opportunities for teaching, research, and leadership</li><li>Strong academic links with the University of Leicester</li><li>Be part of a Trust with a clear vision for cardiology excellence and innovation</li></ul>
