As a Cloud Engineer , you will play a key role in delivering modern cloud-native solutions that support mission-critical national security programmes. Working within highly skilled, multidisciplinary teams, you'll design and implement innovative cloud architectures that enable organisations to collect, connect and understand complex data in high-trust environments.<br><br>This is an exciting opportunity for a Cloud Engineer who thrives on solving complex challenges, enjoys working with cutting-edge AWS technologies, and wants to contribute to work that has real impact at national scale.<br><br>Due to the nature of the role, you must be eligible to undergo both SC and DV Clearance. This means you must be a Sole-British National and you must have not left the UK for >30 Consecutive Days in the Last 5 Years.<br><br>You'll have the opportunity to: Design and build cloud-native architectures in secure, high-assurance environments<br>Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tooling such as Terraform, CloudFormation or CDK<br>Implement secure and scalable AWS services following best practice<br>Build and manage infrastructure through configuration management tooling<br>Work closely with stakeholders across engineering, operations and security<br>Create exemplar patterns and reusable assets to uplift delivery teams<br>Contribute to high-quality solutions that drive mission-critical outcomes<br>For senior Cloud Engineers , lead teams and guide junior engineers<br>Your Responsibilities:<br>As a Cloud Engineer , you will: Architect, deploy and maintain cloud-native solutions using AWS services<br>Use Terraform or CDK to automate and provision infrastructure<br>Implement configuration management using tools such as Puppet, Chef or Ansible<br>Develop secure networking patterns within cloud environments<br>Work with container orchestration systems such as Kubernetes, ECS or OpenShift<br>Script in Python, Bash or Go to support automation and tooling<br>Manage software configuration including source control and versioning<br>Engage with internal and external stakeholders to support delivery<br>Ensure cloud solutions follow robust security practices<br>Contribute to a collaborative engineering culture focused on innovation and quality<br>Key Requirements:<br>As a Cloud Engineer , you should have: Strong experience across AWS services, with a desire to stay current with new releases<br>Hands-on experience with Terraform, CloudFormation or CDK<br>Experience using configuration management tools (Puppet, Chef, Ansible etc.)<br>Good understanding of networking fundamentals and software-defined networking in cloud<br>Experience with Kubernetes, ECS, OpenShift or other orchestration platforms<br>Scripting skills in Python, Bash or Go<br>Awareness xwzovoh of cloud security concepts and best practices<br>AWS certifications are desirable but not essential (training provided)<br>You will gain exposure with:<br>Working as a Cloud Engineer gives you the opportunity to work across: Secure, mission-critical national security projects<br>Modern AWS-based architectures and cloud-native engineering patterns<br>Large-scale, multidisciplinary teams including DevOps, platform, and cyber specialists<br>Real-world engineering challenges requiring innovation, resilience and adaptability<br>Opportunities for progression into senior engineering or leadership roles<br>Why Join?: 25 days' holiday plus flexible buy/sell options<br>Flexible, hybrid and part-time working arrangements<br>Private medical and dental insurance<br>Competitive pension scheme<br>Dedicated Career Manager for personalised development<br>Access to high-quality training and certification pathways<br>Opportunity to work on meaningful projects that support national security<br>Reference: AON/AMC/PGCloudEngineer<br><br>#aaon
