<p>Job Description</p><br>Like the look of this opportunity Make sure to apply fast, as a high volume of applications is expected Scroll down to read the complete job description.<br><p>Children’s Home Registered Manager</p><p>Location: Redwood, Loughborough (LE11 – 3-Bed Home)</p><p>Salary: £45,000 to £55,000</p><p>Contract: Permanent, full-time</p><p>Hours: 39 hours per week (including rota-based evenings, weekends and sleep-ins)</p><p>Role Overview</p><p>We are recruiting an experienced and driven Children’s Home Registered Manager to lead a Children's home in Redwood, Loughborough.</p><p>we are committed to providing the quality of care that will accomplish this. Our residential care home is for children and young people aged 7 to 17 years old, and our focus is centred on the needs of the child.</p><p>Meeting the challenge: Behaviour that challenges is often the result of earlier life trauma. Children and young people need us to understand that their behaviour is a communication of need, we will be patient in understanding and not give up.</p><p>Keeping it positive: All our children and young people will be respected—we support and help them build safe and appropriate attachments and relationships with others.</p><p>It’s the individual: Children and young people will be seen as an individual, and how they are cared for and supported will reflect that.</p><p>Making it happen: Successful outcomes depend absolutely on the quality of our people. We demand a high level of commitment from our team of course, with an emphasis on experience, qualifications, and training to guide their professional development.</p><p>Medium-term to long term: We will support children through permanency to stay with us for as long as we can met their needs and as long as they are able to</p><p>This role presents an excellent opportunity for either an established Registered Manager or a strong Deputy Manager ready for progression, with a proven leadership background within children’s residential services. As Children’s Home Registered Manager, you will hold full accountability for the day-to-day management of the home, from registration through to inspection, ensuring high-quality, child-centred care and full regulatory compliance.</p><p>You will lead and develop a dedicated care team, embed robust safeguarding practice, and create a stable, supportive environment where young people can build emotional resilience and achieve positive outcomes.</p><p>Key Responsibilities</p><p>Leadership & Home Management</p><ul><li>Act as the appointed Children’s Home Registered Manager for the service</li><li>Hold full operational and strategic responsibility for the home</li><li>Lead the service through Ofsted opening and registration</li><li>Ensure ongoing inspection readiness and regulatory compliance</li><li>Ensure staffing levels, rotas and on-call arrangements meet service needs</li><li>Oversee admissions and discharges in line with placement planning</li></ul><p>Care Quality & Safeguarding</p><ul><li>Ensure high-quality, outcome-focused care is delivered consistently</li><li>Promote the rights, welfare and safeguarding of all young people</li><li>Ensure care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support strategies are implemented effectively</li><li>Maintain full compliance with:</li><li>Children’s Homes Regulations</li><li>SCCIF and Ofsted standards</li><li>Safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance</li><li>Work collaboratively with social workers, commissioners, education and health professionals</li></ul><p>Staff Leadership & Development</p><ul><li>Recruit, induct, supervise and appraise the residential staff team</li><li>Ensure mandatory training and continuous professional development requirements are met</li><li>Provide strong leadership and consistent practice direction</li><li>Manage performance, grievances and disciplinary matters where required</li><li>Foster a resilient, values-led team culture</li></ul><p>Compliance, Administration & Resources</p><ul><li>Maintain accurate records and reporting systems for young people and staff</li><li>Prepare management information and statutory returns</li><li>Monitor budgets and ensure financial targets are achieved</li><li>Ensure the home environment, premises and equipment are safe, compliant and well maintained</li><li>Participate in management forums and contribute to service development</li><li>Take part in the on-call rota as required</li></ul><p>Essential Criteria</p><ul><li>Experience working within Children’s Residential Homes</li><li>Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a senior role (Deputy Manager or above)</li><li>Proven experience leading and managing staff teams</li><li>Strong knowledge of:</li><li>Children’s Homes Regulations</li><li>SCCIF and Ofsted inspection frameworks</li><li>Safeguarding and child protection procedures</li><li>Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)</li><li>Hold or be working towards Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management</li><li>Evidence of contributing to Good or Outstanding Ofsted outcomes</li><li>Ability to manage challenging behaviour with emotional resilience</li><li>Excellent written, verbal and report-writing skills</li><li>Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality</li><li>Full UK driving licence and access to suitable transport</li><li>Willingness to travel for interviews and managers’ meetings</li><li>Commutable distance to the home</li><li>Any disciplinaries or failed fit person decisions must be declared</li><li>Salary expectations aligned with the advertised package</li></ul><p>Special Conditions</p><ul><li>The post is subject to a six-month probationary period.</li><li>Annual leave is 22 days per annum plus Bank Holidays initially, with additional days following years of service.</li><li>Pension - We will observe our obligations under auto enrolment.</li><li>A mobile phone is available.</li><li>Mileage at an agreed rate is payable for business purposes.</li><li>The successful candidate will need to be approved by the appropriate statutory body.
