Scale it.</p><p>£70,000 – £80,000 | Remote-first | Travel to Portsmouth (once/month)</p><p>Some AWS roles are about maintaining what’s already there.</p><p>This one is about making it better.</p><p>You’ll be joining a small infrastructure team as the AWS specialist as the person who looks at the current setup, challenges it, and helps shape what “good” really looks like.</p><p>If you enjoy getting into the detail, improving environments, and leaving things in a better state than you found them… this will suit you.</p><p>What’s in it for you?</p><ul><li>Salary: £70,000 – £80,000</li><li>Working pattern: Remote-first (occasional travel to Portsmouth data centre)</li><li>Team: Small, high-impact infra team (you’ll be the third engineer)</li><li>Influence: Genuine say in technical direction and standards</li><li>Environment: AWS-first, with hybrid infrastructure and modern DevSecOps practices</li><li>Opportunity: Help shape a growing business moving from “move fast” to “build properly”</li></ul><p>What’s the role really about?</p><p>This isn’t a greenfield build.</p><p>And it’s not a perfectly polished environment either.</p><p>It’s somewhere in the middle - built quickly, now ready to be reviewed, improved, and strengthened for scale.</p><p>You’ll:</p><ul><li>Assess the current AWS setup</li><li>Reduce technical debt</li><li>Improve security and segmentation</li><li>Help define what a robust, scalable environment should look like</li></ul><p>Less “keep it running”.</p><p>More “make it right”.</p><p>What you’ll be doing</p><ul><li>Reviewing and improving the existing AWS infrastructure</li><li>Strengthening security, segmentation, and best practice architecture</li><li>Supporting a hybrid setup across cloud and on-prem environments</li><li>Handling technical issues and escalations when needed</li><li>Working closely with engineering teams to align infrastructure and development</li><li>Helping move teams further toward AWS and away from on-prem dependencies</li><li>Contributing to automation and DevSecOps practices already in place</li><li>Communicating clearly across technical and non-technical stakeholders</li></ul><p>What you’ll bring</p><ul><li>Strong, hands-on AWS experience (3-5+ years) - beyond just setup and migration</li><li>A background in infrastructure / on-prem environments, now cloud-focused</li><li>Solid understanding of:</li><li>VPC, networking, and segmentation</li><li>Secure, scalable AWS architecture</li><li>Hybrid infrastructure environments</li><li>A practical approach to AWS security and best practice</li><li>Ideally exposure to other cloud platforms (Azure ideally) - enough to understand multi-cloud environments, even if AWS is your core strength</li><li>Experience working alongside engineering teams in modern environments</li><li>The confidence to challenge, improve, and push standards forward</li></ul><p>The reality of the role</p><p>This is a fast-growing business that’s historically moved quickly.</p><p>Now it’s time to tighten things up.</p><p>Better structure.
