<b>Our client</b>Our client is a <strong>design-led, high-volume manufacturer based in Teesside</strong>, currently undergoing significant investment and growth. Engineering sits at the heart of the business, with a strong track record of bringing innovative, well-engineered products to market at scale. With ambitious plans for long-term market leadership, the company continues to invest heavily in product development capability, infrastructure, and people.<b>The opportunity</b><p>This is a senior-level mechanical design role with genuine influence across a <strong>busy and robust new product development pipeline</strong>. You will play a leading role in taking products from early concept through to manufacture, working from first principles and closely collaborating with a large, established Design & Engineering function.</p><p>Key responsibilities include:</p><ul><li>Leading mechanical design activities across multiple <strong>new product development projects</strong></li><li>Designing from first principles, producing robust 3D models, detailed 2D drawings, and engineering calculations</li><li>Performing <strong>FEA analysis</strong> to validate and optimise designs</li><li>Working closely with manufacturing, procurement, and suppliers to ensure <strong>design for manufacture and design for cost</strong></li><li>Supporting prototyping, testing, and validation using <strong>in-house facilities</strong></li><li>Creating and maintaining BOMs and supporting configuration tools to enable efficient manufacture</li><li>Applying a strong understanding of manufacturing processes </li><li>Playing a visible role in continuous improvement of engineering standards, processes, and best practice</li><li>Reporting directly into the <strong>Head of Engineering</strong> and contributing to technical direction and decision-making</li></ul><b>About you</b><p>You will be an experienced mechanical design engineer with a strong background in new product development within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
