<p><strong>Locations:</strong> London, Leeds, Birmingham, Liverpool<br> <br> </p> <p><strong>Why this role?</strong></p> <p>As a <strong>Senior Interaction Designer</strong>, you'll help shape the digital products, services and policies that support <strong>national and global health protection</strong>, ensuring they are inclusive, accessible and genuinely useful to the people who rely on them.</p> <p><strong>About the team</strong></p> <p>You'll join UKHSA's <strong>central User Centred Design (UCD) team</strong>, part of the <strong>Readiness & Surge division</strong> within the Chief Medical Advisor Directorate.</p> <p>The UCD team:</p> <ul> <li>Embeds user centred design across UKHSA</li> <li>Supports teams to design accessible, evidence based services</li> <li>Leads the organisation wide UCD community of practice</li> <li>Ensures services meet the <strong>Government Service Standard</strong> </li> </ul> <p>You'll work in <strong>multi disciplinary squads</strong>, collaborating with policy, data, engineering and operational colleagues across the agency.</p> <p><strong>What you'll be doing</strong></p> <p>As a Senior Interaction Designer, you will:</p> <p><strong>Design leadership & influence</strong></p> <ul> <li>Act as a <strong>recognised expert</strong> in interaction design and user centred practice</li> <li>Influence programme and project roadmaps to embed inclusive design</li> <li>Advocate convincingly for equitable, accessible and evidence based solutions</li> </ul> <p><strong>Hands on design</strong></p> <ul> <li>Design and prototype <strong>complex digital services</strong> at appropriate fidelity</li> <li>Solve challenging usability problems without compromising accessibility</li> <li>Iterate designs based on research, feedback and changing requirements</li> </ul> <p><strong>Collaboration & communication</strong></p> <ul> <li>Work closely with researchers, developers and architects</li> <li>Analyse and synthesise complex evidence into clear design decisions</li> <li>Communicate recommendations clearly to stakeholders at all levels</li> </ul> <p><strong>Community & capability building</strong></p> <ul> <li>Mentor and coach interaction designers and colleagues from other disciplines</li> <li>Contribute to shared <strong>design patterns and component libraries</strong> </li> <li>Actively lead and strengthen the UCD community of practice</li> <li>Line manage designers where required, supporting their professional growth</li> </ul> <p><strong>Who this role is for</strong></p> <p>This role could be a great fit if you: </p> <ul> <li>Are an experienced interaction designer working in <strong>complex organisations</strong> </li> <li>Care deeply about <strong>inclusive, accessible and equitable services</strong> </li> <li>Enjoy influencing strategy as well as designing hands on</li> <li>Are confident mentoring others and shaping design culture</li> <li>Want your work to have <strong>real public health impact</strong> </li> </ul> <p><strong>Essential experience </strong></p> <p>You'll need strong experience in:</p> <ul> <li>User centred design methods and best practice</li> <li>Iterative design informed by research and insight</li> <li>Prototyping complex services using appropriate tools</li> <li>Creating and contributing to design patterns within standards</li> <li>Stakeholder management and influencing decision makers</li> <li>Working effectively with developers (including understanding front end constraints)</li> <li>Coaching and mentoring other designers</li> </ul> <p><strong>Interested?</strong></p> <p>This partner post gives you the highlights.</p> <p><strong>Click through to the full Civil Service Jobs advert</strong> to view full details and apply.</p><img src="https://www.jobg8.com/Tracking.aspx?RINZcmghf3fawMQO1gn%2bey0kqRaimNfRx" width="0" height="0" />
