<p></p><strong>Quality Engineer</strong><p><strong>Tech for Good Edinburgh (£60,000)</strong></p><p></p><p><strong>NO SPONSORSHIP PROVIDED SADLY</strong></p><p>Are you an experienced <strong>Quality Engineer</strong> who wants to <strong>measurably improve software quality</strong>, reduce late-stage defects, and increase confidence in releases?</p><p>Our Edinburgh-based <strong>tech-for-good client</strong> is building high-scale digital platforms that make a real, positive impact. They're looking for a Quality Engineer who sees quality as a <strong>system-wide capability</strong>, not a final testing phase.</p><p>This is <strong>not a traditional QA role</strong>. You won't be executing test scripts or acting as a gatekeeper. Instead, you'll enable teams to take shared ownership of quality, using <strong>metrics, automation, and real production signals</strong> to continuously improve how software is built and released.</p><strong>What you'll do</strong><ul><li>Reduce late-stage defects by identifying risks early across <strong>design, data flows, integrations, and scale</strong></li><li>Increase release confidence using <strong>quality gates driven by metrics and real system behaviour</strong></li><li>Ensure <strong>services, integrations, and data pipelines</strong> remain stable under load and high volume</li><li>Embed <strong>automated quality checks</strong> into CI/CD pipelines and support continuous testing</li><li>Use <strong>observability (logs, metrics, traces)</strong> to validate behaviour and detect issues in production</li><li>Act as a trusted quality partner, helping teams build <strong>resilient, testable, observable systems</strong></li></ul><strong>What we're looking for</strong><ul><li>5+ years' experience as a <strong>modern Quality Engineer</strong> in CI/CD-driven environments</li><li>Strong experience designing <strong>risk-based testing strategies</strong> (unit, integration, contract, end-to-end)</li><li>Solid understanding of how systems behave under <strong>scale, load, and high data throughput</strong></li><li>Background in <strong>B2C, SaaS, or high-traffic environments</strong> where failures have real impact</li><li>Comfort working with <strong>quality and reliability metrics</strong> (e.g. MTTR, failure rates, performance thresholds)</li></ul><strong>Why this role?</strong><ul><li>Purpose-driven technology with <strong>real social impact</strong></li><li>A culture that values <strong>engineering excellence and continuous improvement</strong></li><li>The opportunity to shape how quality is embedded <strong>end-to-end</strong>, from design to production</li><li>Edinburgh-based with flexible/hybrid working</li></ul><p>If you're passionate about building <strong>reliable systems that matter</strong>, and want to move quality upstream and downstream-not just test at the end-we'd love to talk.</p><p></p><img src="https://www.jobg8.com/Tracking.aspx?kvKO%2fmG%2frVr%2bQTcpm%2feYlFNUfpUD7fQzg" width="0" height="0" />
