Mechanical Facilities Technician

<p></p><p><strong>Role Overview</strong></p><p>We are seeking a reliable and mechanically minded Boiler House Operative to join our on-site team at Basingstoke Hospital. This is a hands-on role involving the day-to-day operation, monitoring, and maintenance of critical boiler plant systems to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant performance.</p><p>You will work as part of a small, dedicated team of two, sharing responsibility for maintaining continuous operation of the boiler house.</p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Carry out daily statutory and regulatory checks within the boiler house</li><li>Monitor and maintain:</li><li>2 x steam boilers</li><li>3 x LTHW (Low Temperature Hot Water) boilers</li><li>Record and report energy meter readings</li><li>Perform routine water sampling and quality checks</li><li>Inspect boilers, pumps, and associated plant to ensure safe and efficient operation</li><li>Monitor and maintain dosing systems</li><li>Identify and report faults or irregularities promptly</li><li>Assist with minor maintenance tasks and liaise with engineers where required</li></ul><p><strong>Working Pattern & Additional Duties</strong></p><ul><li>Participation in an on-call rota (£150 per week, with additional payment for call-outs)</li><li>Weekend and bank holiday working required as part of a rota system</li><li>Daily checks are required 7 days a week</li></ul><p><strong>Overtime & Additional Pay:</strong></p><ul><li>Weekend checks: Paid at 4 hours per standard hourly rate</li><li>Bank holiday checks: Paid at 4 standard hourly rate + 1 additional day of annual leave</li><li>Call-outs: Paid in addition to on-call allowance</li></ul><p><strong>Candidate Profile</strong></p><p>The ideal candidate will:</p><ul><li>Possess strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills</li><li>Be reliable, self-motivated, and capable of working both independently and as part of a small team</li><li>Demonstrate a strong awareness of health & safety procedures</li><li>Be flexible and willing to participate in out-of-hours and weekend working</li></ul><p></p><img src="https://www.jobg8.com/Tracking.aspx?50N8xKcU4F0a2aMxwMFHHS8BU8SXQAiNd" width="0" height="0" />
