<p><b>Deputy Manager - Day Centre Operations</b></p><p><b>We are seeking an experienced Deputy Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of a busy Day Centre, providing a safe, welcoming gateway to support for people facing multiple disadvantages.</b></p><p><b>Salary:</b> £32,439 - £35,909 per annum (rising incrementally with service)<b>Location:</b> Southend on Sea, Essex<b>Hours:</b> 37 hours per week (rota including occasional evenings, weekends and bank holidays)<b>Contract:</b> Permanent<b>Closing date:</b> 12th May 2026</p><p><b>About the role</b></p><p>Reporting to the Service Manager, you will have operational responsibility for the smooth and effective running of a Day Centre that supports people experiencing homelessness and related challenges. You will provide visible, on-site leadership, ensuring high standards of safety, compliance and person-centred practice.</p><p>Key responsibilities include:</p><p></p><ul><li>Overseeing daily operations of the Day Centre, creating a safe, inclusive and well-managed environment</li><li>Leading and supervising staff, volunteers and cleaning provision</li><li>Managing visitors, safeguarding processes and incident responses</li><li>Coordinating partner-led services, activities and advice sessions within the Centre</li><li>Taking responsibility for health and safety, building compliance and premises management</li><li>Overseeing donations, resources and stock control</li><li>Ensuring accurate monitoring, recording and reporting of service activity</li><li>Acting as a key point of contact for partners and local community stakeholders</li><li>Deputising for senior management and supporting cross-cover across services when required</li></ul><p>This role requires confidence in decision-making, a calm approach under pressure and the ability to support staff managing complex situations.</p><p><b>About you</b></p><p>You will have experience working within homelessness, housing, social care or a related support setting, particularly with people who have multiple and complex needs. You will also bring:</p><p></p><ul><li>Experience of leading or supervising staff or volunteers</li><li>Confidence managing incidents, safeguarding concerns and crisis situations</li><li>Strong knowledge of trauma-informed and psychologically informed practice</li><li>Excellent organisational and communication skills</li><li>A values-led, resilient and solution-focused leadership style</li></ul><p>Experience managing a building-based or drop-in service is desirable.</p><p><b>About the organisation</b></p><p>This organisation provides frontline support services to people experiencing homelessness and multiple disadvantage, working in partnership with local agencies and the community to create pathways into safety, stability and longer-term support.
