<p>Critical Infrastructure Electrical Engineer - Manchester</p><p>Critical Infrastructure Electrical Engineer with experience of Generator installations, large UPS systems, substation design, mission-critical and infrastructure-oriented projects is required by a global consultancy. This role be based anywhere in the UK and they have multiple roles to fill at all levels</p><ul><li>Electrical services engineers with infrastructure/external works experience beyond standard building services</li><ul><li>Generator installations, large UPS systems, substation design</li><li>Mission critical and infrastructure-oriented projects</li></ul><li>Seniority: Senior engineer level upwards</li><li>Security clearance: SC level preferred (increasingly required by clients)</li></ul><p>They deliver innovative engineering solutions across aviation, commercial, residential, education, healthcare, transport, defence, and energy sectors - with defence and energy experience considered especially valuable.</p><p><strong>Experience required:</strong></p><ul><li>A qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.</li><li>Chartered Engineer status with CIBSE or IET (preferred).</li><li>Strong software proficiency - ETAP, Amtech/ProDesign, Dialux/Relux, NBS, and Microsoft tools.</li><li>Experience designing PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems.</li><li>Understanding of energy-reduction strategies and approaches to decarbonising buildings.</li><li>Experience in design consultancy and/or contractor design environments.</li><li>A proactive approach, strong decision-making ability, and the confidence to lead deliverables within time and cost constraints.</li></ul><p><strong>Technical Scope & Project Types</strong></p><ul><li>Voltage requirements: Comfortable with 11kV schemes (33kV similar)</li><li>DNO standards familiarity and substation design experience expected</li><li>Key project areas:</li><ol><li>Large airport expansion projects</li><li>Major railway station developments</li><li>Data center work for global providers</li><li>Defense secure/mission critical projects</li><li>Nuclear power stations (Hinkley Point, SMR projects, fusion development)</li></ol><li>Most important candidate quality: Breadth of experience and willingness to learn outside comfort zone</li></ul><ul><ul><li>Must actually design systems, not just manage suppliers</li><li>Need ownership mentality and self-education drive</li></ul></ul><p><strong>Duties of the role:</strong></p><ul><li>Interpreting and understanding detailed project briefs.</li><li>Designing and specifying electrical systems, including LV & MV power, earthing, PV, BESS, and grid-connected renewable technologies.</li><li>Producing detailed electrical calculations using industry-standard tools such as Trimble ProDesign, ETAP, and PV design software.</li><li>Preparing high-quality technical specifications.</li><li>Working closely with our BIM team to develop coordinated Revit models and drawings.</li><li>Carrying out site surveys, inspections, and monitoring installation works.</li><li>Creating clear and technically robust reports and documentation.</li></ul><p>They are looking to pay a starting salary of £70,000 - £90,000 + Hybrid working.
