Business Systems Analyst

The role requires a minimum of 3 days per week on-site in Glasgow.</p><p>You will play a key role in bridging business requirements and technical delivery, working on data-intensive projects involving system integrations, data flows, and transformation initiatives.</p><p><strong></strong><strong>Key responsibilities include:</strong></p><ul><li>Leading business and systems analysis across complex, technical projects</li><li>Managing changing requirements, late-stage updates, and evolving scope</li><li>Working with stakeholders to identify dependencies and drive effective change</li><li>Producing high-quality artefacts including:<ul><li>High-Level Design Specifications (HLDs)</li><li>Data flows and transformation designs</li><li>Sequence diagrams</li><li>Source-to-target mappings</li></ul></li><li>Defining both functional and non-functional requirements (e.g. security, release strategy)</li><li>Collaborating closely with developers to develop practical, deliverable solutions</li><li>Supporting delivery within Agile/SCRUM frameworks</li><li>Driving clear stakeholder communication and ensuring delivery progress</li></ul><p></p><p><strong>What you'll need to succeed</strong></p><p><strong>Essential:</strong></p><ul><li>Minimum 10+ years' experience as a Business Systems Analyst, including strong technical experience</li><li>Proven hands-on expertise in data analysis, working with:<ul><li>Oracle, SQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Excel</li><li>JSON, CSV data formats</li></ul></li><li>Experience designing data flows, transformations, and mappings</li><li>Strong experience producing HLDs and technical documentation</li><li>Ability to identify non-functional requirements (e.g. security, release strategy)</li><li>Strong stakeholder engagement across both business and technical teams</li><li>Experience working with Agile (SCRUM) methodologies</li><li>Proven ability to work in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities</li><li>Experience collaborating with developers, product owners, and testers</li><li>Hands-on approach with the ability to evolve workable solutions alongside engineering teams</li><li>Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills</li><li>Demonstrated persistence in tracking and driving tasks to completion</li><li>Significant client-facing experience</li><li>Ability to work on-site in Glasgow 3 days per week (essential)</li></ul><p><strong>Desirable:</strong></p><ul><li>Knowledge of:<ul><li>APIs, system integrations, MuleSoft</li><li>SQL / PL-SQL</li></ul></li><li>Experience with tools such as:<ul><li>JIRA, Confluence, Visio, Draw.io</li></ul></li><li>Experience working on:<ul><li>Cloud migration, web services, and large-scale data platforms</li></ul></li><li>Experience within complex, multi-system, or government-linked environments</li></ul><p><strong>What you need to do now</strong>If you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.If this job isn't quite right for you, but you are looking for a new position, please contact us for a confidential discussion about your career.</p><p>Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
