Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer / Civil Engineer
An award-winning multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer / Civil Engineer to join its growing Sheffield office.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with development infrastructure experience to work on a varied portfolio of residential, commercial and regeneration projects across Yorkshire and the wider UK. The role offers exposure to flood risk, drainage and infrastructure design from planning stage through to detailed and construction delivery within a collaborative and technically strong consultancy environment.
Open from Engineer through to Senior level, this position offers clear progression opportunities alongside strong Chartership and professional development support.
The Role
You'll support the design and delivery of drainage and flood risk solutions across a broad range of development projects, working closely with civil, structural, geotechnical and geo-environmental teams within the wider business.
Projects typically include residential developments, commercial schemes and wider infrastructure-led developments requiring drainage strategies, SuDS design, Flood Risk Assessments, site levels and external works design.
The role will involve contributing to projects through planning, detailed and construction design stages, coordinating with clients, architects, contractors and Local Authorities to deliver practical and compliant engineering solutions.
You'll also gain exposure to highways and infrastructure coordination where required, while continuing to develop technically within a consultancy that places strong emphasis on CPD, mentoring and long-term career progression.
What We're Looking For
Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with experience in flood risk, drainage or development infrastructure design.
Good understanding of drainage strategies, SuDS and flood risk principles associated with residential and commercial development projects.
Experience using AutoCAD and drainage design software such as Causeway Flow, FLOW or MicroDrainage/Windes, with Civil 3D, PDS or Site3D experience beneficial.
Understanding of development infrastructure design from planning stage through to construction delivery.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to project delivery.
Chartered status or progression toward Chartership with ICE would be advantageous but is not essential.
