Authorised Person (LV) – Freelance Cardiff (8-Month Requirement) August Start | CIS / LTD A leading building services contractor is looking for an experienced Authorised Person (LV) to support electrical operations on a major infrastructure project in South Wales. This is a long-term freelance opportunity (approx. 8 months), with a planned start in August 2026, working alongside a principal contractor delivery team on a live site. The Role You will be responsible for overseeing and carrying out LV switching operations, ensuring safe systems of work are followed throughout the project lifecycle. Key responsibilities include: * Acting as LV Authorised Person (AP) on site * Carrying out and overseeing LV switching activities * Issuing and controlling permits to work / isolation procedures * Supporting energisation, commissioning and handover phases * Coordinating with site management and principal contractor teams * Ensuring compliance with H&S standards, site procedures, and electrical safety regulations Requirements * Proven experience as an Authorised Person (LV) * Strong background in building services / M&E / infrastructure projects * Experience working on large-scale or complex live sites * Confident managing: * Switching procedures * Permits and isolations * Safe systems of work * ECS / CSCS (or equivalent) * Relevant AP LV authorisation The Opportunity * Approx. 8-month contract * Major project environment with structured delivery teams * Consistent workload on a live site * Opportunity to work alongside an experienced principal contractor Rate * £350 to £450 per day depending on experience and project background * CIS or LTD payment available (Top-end rates available for candidates with proven AP experience on major infrastructure or healthcare projects) Apply If you’re an experienced LV Authorised Person available from August and looking for a long-term freelance role in South Wales, get in touch for a confidential discussion
