Job description
<p><b> The opportunity </b><p> Our client is a fast-growing clean technology company at a pivotal stage of growth — first full-scale product installation complete, multiple commercial projects underway, and global deployment on the horizon. </p><p> They're looking for a Performance Engineer to own the end-to-end data and insight pipeline across their operational fleet. You'll design how data flows from onboard systems through to internal engineering tools and customer-facing reporting — ensuring performance is captured accurately and translated into meaningful insight. </p><p> This role sits at the intersection of engineering and commercial decision-making: building pipelines, developing dashboards, and closing the loop between real-world fleet operation and product development. </p><p></p><p><b> What you'll do </b></p><ul><li> Design and maintain data pipelines from onboard systems through to engineering tools and customer reporting </li><li> Develop dashboards and reporting tools for technical and non-technical stakeholders </li><li> Translate complex datasets into clear conclusions that drive engineering improvements and reliability decisions </li><li> Support validated performance claims through rigorous analysis </li><li> Collaborate with engineering, software and commercial teams to continuously improve how data is structured, automated and applied </li><li> Play a central role in the feedback loop between real-world fleet operation and product development </li></ul><p></p><p><b> What we're looking for </b></p><p> You may currently be working as a Performance Engineer, Data Engineer, Marine Performance Analyst, Industrial Data Engineer, Fleet Performance Engineer or similar. Your background should include: </p><ul><li> Degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture, Data Science, Physics or a related technical discipline </li><li> Solid experience working with real-world engineering or industrial data </li><li> Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and processing workflows </li><li> Strong analytical capability — interpreting complex datasets and communicating clear insight </li><li> Experience developing dashboards or reporting tools for mixed audiences </li><li> Exposure to data from physical systems: sensors, telemetry or industrial equipment </li></ul><p> Advantageous: experience in marine, energy or industrial environments; reliability analysis or performance modelling; familiarity with scalable or cloud-based data systems. </p><p></p><p><b> What's on offer </b></p><ul><li> Salary up to £65,000 depending on experience </li><li> Hybrid working — 3 days onsite in Southampton </li><li> Private healthcare </li><li> Genuine ownership of the performance data function at a defining stage of company growth </li></ul><p></p>
