We're looking for a <b> Senior Protection & Control Engineer </b> who will lead the technical delivery and design of HV and EHV protection and control systems for renewable and utility‑scale infrastructure projects. </p><p></p><p><b> Role Responsibilities </b></p><ul><li> Provide day‑to‑day technical leadership and management of a protection and control engineering team, ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of HV and EHV substations up to 400kV. </li><li> Lead the design, specification and configuration of complete protection and control systems, including setting project‑specific protection philosophies and ensuring compliance with Grid Code, ENA G99, DNO and TSO standards. </li><li> Review tender and contract documentation, define protection scopes of work, and deliver high‑quality technical documentation, drawings and calculations throughout the project lifecycle. </li><li> Act as technical authority across projects, resolving engineering challenges, coordinating multi‑disciplinary interfaces, and ensuring “right‑first‑time” delivery aligned with quality assurance processes. </li><li> Mentor and develop junior engineers, embed CDM 2015 principles, and promote safety and sustainability by design across all engineering activities. </li></ul><p></p><p><b> Required Qualifications </b></p><ul><li> Degree, HND or HNC in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred). </li><li> Significant experience (10+ years) designing HV and EHV protection and control systems from 11kV to 132kV and ideally up to 400kV. </li><li> Strong working knowledge of British and international standards, including Grid Code, ENA G99, and DNO/TSO requirements. </li><li> Proven experience leading or technically managing specialist electrical design teams. </li><li> Working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and the designer's role under CDM. </li></ul><p></p><p><b> What's in it for you?</b></p><ul><li> The opportunity to lead technically complex, high‑impact HV and renewable energy projects. </li><li> A collaborative working environment with a strong focus on technical excellence and professional development. </li><li> Hybrid working with long‑term career progression in a growing engineering function. </li></ul><p></p><p><b> There's a place for you at Mitie – join us today!</b></p>
