Job description
Electronics Engineer (Avionics & Embedded Systems) Swindon - Full-Time, Hybrid Flexibility
£40,000 – £60,000 (flexible for the right experience)
A fast-growing engineering organisation operating at the cutting edge of avionics and unmanned systems is seeking an Electronics Engineer to join its expanding technical team. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you’ll take ownership of complex PCB and electronics development from concept through to production.
You’ll be working in a small, highly collaborative engineering group where pace, innovation, and delivery really matter. The environment is dynamic, with multiple concurrent projects and evolving requirements - ideal for someone who thrives on variety and technical challenge.
The Opportunity
This role is central to the development of advanced avionics and electrical systems used in next-generation platforms. You’ll be responsible for designing, building, testing, and refining robust electronic solutions that move seamlessly from concept to real-world deployment.
You’ll work closely with cross-functional engineers across avionics, software, and systems integration, contributing directly to both prototype development and production-ready designs.
What You’ll Be Doing
Leading end-to-end PCB design activities using industry-standard tools (Altium Designer)
Designing multi-layer analogue, digital, mixed-signal, and power electronics architectures
Ensuring robust design for manufacturability, assembly, and test (DFM/DFA/DFT)
Developing power systems including DC-DC converters, regulation, filtering, and protection
Conducting signal integrity, power integrity, and EMC-aware design practices
Supporting full hardware lifecycle: bring-up, debugging, validation, and environmental testing
Defining test strategies, procedures, and verification documentation
Building and supporting test solutions (including lab and production environments)
Using advanced lab equipment to diagnose and resolve complex hardware issues
Contributing to configuration control, design reviews, and engineering change processes
What We’re Looking For
Essential Experience:
Proven track record delivering production-ready PCB designs (end-to-end lifecycle)
Strong hands-on experience with schematic capture, layout, and hardware bring-up
Deep understanding of DFM/DFA/DFT principles
Confident fault-finding skills across power, digital, and communications systems
Experience defining and executing hardware verification and validation plans
Proficiency with Altium Designer or equivalent PCB design tools
Right to work in the UK and eligibility for UK Security Clearance
Highly Desirable:
EMC-aware design experience and pre-compliance testing
Exposure to high-reliability or safety-critical electronics (aerospace, defence, etc.)
Experience designing test fixtures or automated test solutions
Familiarity with IPC standards and best practice manufacturing guidelines
Background in fast-paced prototype or R&D environments
Culture & Working Style
You’ll join a close-knit engineering team that values:
Collaboration over silos – everyone contributes to the wider system
Curiosity and innovation – tackling problems head-on with creativity
Speed and adaptability – reacting quickly to changing technical needs
⚠️ Important Note
This is a UK-based role requiring full UK working rights and a UK-centric project environment. No visa sponsorship is available.
If you’re an Electronics Engineer who enjoys hands-on hardware development, thrives in fast-moving environments, and wants to see your designs move from concept to reality, we’d love to hear from you.
