This role will play a key part in contributing to projects, objectives, and wider organisational goals </p><p></p><p> Key Responsibilities </p><p></p><p> Data Management & Analysis </p><p></p><p> * Collect, clean, validate, and maintain geospatial datasets from multiple internal and external sources </p><p> * Perform spatial analysis, modelling, and geoprocessing to identify patterns, trends, and relationships that support decision‑making </p><p> * Integrate GIS data with other systems and datasets, including asset management, planning, and statistical databases </p><p></p><p> Mapping & Visualisation </p><p></p><p> * Produce high‑quality maps, dashboards, and spatial visualisations for reports, presentations, and digital platforms </p><p> * Develop and apply appropriate cartographic standards, symbology, and visualisation techniques to ensure clarity and consistency </p><p> * Support the development and use of interactive web maps and GIS applications where required </p><p></p><p> Stakeholder Support & Engagement </p><p></p><p> * Work with internal teams and external stakeholders to define GIS requirements and analytical needs </p><p> * Translate complex spatial analysis into clear, actionable insights for non‑technical audiences </p><p> * Provide GIS support to projects, programmes, and operational teams across the organisation </p><p></p><p> Systems & Tools </p><p></p><p> * Maintain and enhance GIS databases, workflows, and technical documentation </p><p> * Support the use of GIS software and platforms, including ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS, and web‑based GIS solutions </p><p> * Assist with automation and scripting to improve efficiency and repeatability, including the use of Python and ModelBuilder </p><p></p><p> Governance & Quality </p><p></p><p> * Ensure data accuracy, metadata standards, version control, and adherence to GIS best practice </p><p> * Comply with data governance, security, and licensing requirements </p><p> * Contribute to the continuous improvement of GIS standards, processes, and quality assurance practices </p><p></p><p> Qualifications and Experience </p><p></p><p> Essential: </p><p></p><p> Technical Skills </p><p></p><p> * Strong experience with GIS software, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online </p><p> * Proven ability in spatial analysis, geoprocessing, and data visualisation </p><p> * Experience working with spatial databases such as PostGIS and SQL Server </p><p> * Basic scripting or automation experience, with Python preferred </p><p> * Good understanding of coordinate systems, map projections, and spatial data formats </p><p> * Knowledge of ESRI Geodatabases and Ordnance Survey data and standards </p><p> * Experience designing, building, and producing professional map outputs </p><p></p><p> Analytical & Communication Skills </p><p></p><p> * Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability </p><p> * Ability to interpret spatial data and communicate insights clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences </p><p> * Excellent organisational skills, with high attention to detail and data accuracy </p><p> * Ability to work effectively to tight deadlines and with minimal supervision </p><p> * Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team </p><p></p><p> Desirable Skills </p><p></p><p> * Experience with web GIS applications and dashboards, such as Experience Builder, Mapbox, or Leaflet </p><p> * Experience supporting policy, planning, or infrastructure‑related programmes or projects </p><p> * Understanding of UK geospatial standards, datasets, and open data principles </p><p></p><p> Qualifications </p><p></p><p> * Degree, or equivalent practical experience, in GIS, Geography, Geospatial Science, Environmental Science, Planning, or a related discipline </p><p> * Proven experience working in a GIS Analyst or similar geospatial role </p><p> * Experience working with large or complex datasets is desirable </p><p> * Knowledge of a relevant sector, such as energy, infrastructure, environment, transport, or the public sector, is an advantage </p><p></p><p> Personal Qualities </p><p> * Takes ownership, shows
