Job description
Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working on this exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager to join a high-growth, venture-backed technology business operating at the cutting edge of healthcare innovation. This is a newly created part-time role within a dynamic and ambitious organisation, offering real scope to shape the finance function and contribute to the next phase of growth.
Working closely with the CEO and founders, you will take on a highly visible, hands-on role with broad responsibility across financial operations, reporting, planning and procurement. This position offers a unique blend of day-to-day financial management and strategic involvement, including exposure to fundraising activity, board reporting, and commercial decision-making.
Financial Planning and Analysis
Maintain and update the financial model made to support strategic decision-making
Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses
Analyse financial performance metrics and provide insights to the CEO and the Board
Accounting and Record Keeping
Oversee all accounting functions including accounts payable/receivable
Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions
Maintain general ledger in Xero and prepare monthly financial statements
Own the end-to-end purchase-to-pay process, ensuring purchases are properly authorised, documented, and recorded in line with company policy
Oversee the receipt and reconciliation of goods received notes (GRNs) against purchase orders and supplier invoices, resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner
Process and post supplier invoices to the general ledger in Xero, ensuring accuracy of coding across cost centres and nominal accounts
Manage supplier relationships and payment runs, maintaining an up-to-date creditor ledger and ensuring payments are made within agreed terms
Develop a cash flow projection and manage short-term financial needs
Financial Reporting
Prepare and present financial reports to the CEO and board of directors
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards
Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data
Risk Management
Identify and assess financial risks and help develop mitigation strategies
Implement internal controls to safeguard company assets
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and seek support where required
Continuously improve financial processes for efficiency and accuracy
Collaborate with the wider team to support business initiatives and projects
Provide financial insights for product development, pricing strategies, and market expansion
Assist in fundraising efforts, including preparing financial projections for investors
This role is suited to a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with experience in a fast-paced or growth environment.
